midnight illusions ~

midnight illusions ~

A Poem by Frieda P
"

...

"

Most nights she dances alone

with the maniac in her head

       prancing about allusion's shadow

on a wing and a song

     daylight scorches twirling freedom's feathers

          asylum harbors taunting deceptions

                  blistering of sun's betrayal

clear night vision through midnight hours

captivated by gray spatters bliss'd oblivion,

         alluring sting of cloak'd daggers

with her sword, she slays the dragons

                 illusion's surrender set free

                      wrapped in delusion's ecstasy

dancing faster to catch up............

I love this poem the metaphors are amazing and the imagery really takes me places.

clear night vision through midnight hours
captivated by gray spatters bliss'd oblivion,
alluring sting of cloak'd daggers
with her sword, she slays the dragons

These lines took my breath away.

The contrast between day and night or light and dark are what speak to me most...almost like the night hides all the pain that the day brings so at night she is free.

Even though this begins and ends with a dance, I feel like I'm reading a tale of haunting and torment, and a journey taken to exercise the demons they bring...you have done what Mrs.R does so well, load up every line with its own distinct image while never losing the theme...and even though it's about a woman, I relate to much of it, especially the first two lines...I was glad to see the dragons slayed at the end, but it closes out with a touch of dramatic ambiguity, as if the journey is incomplete, and there are still more dragons to slay...perhaps the dragons are immortal, only capable of being brought down for a limited time...you definitely have my mind in fantasy mode with this one Mrs.R, though I find myself returning to those first two lines...the magnitude of your imagination and craftsmanship never fails to take my breath away :) xo

Glad you think so Frieda some may disagree with you, Welcome:)))))))))))))))))))))))
i love the way you layer things up .. allusions to illusions are just a delusion :) if the maniac was set free in the daylight you run the risk of incarceration .. nice job Freida .. opening lines are very strong and set the hook straight off .. captivating dream time .. a peek into this very private alone time .. just before sleeping .. and beyond .. i just woke up and now i want to go back to bed .. great poem Freida .. never disappointed visiting your place

Lovely music and splendid lines chica.Sometimes even alone we are crowded by the thoughts running us ragged in our heads.Perhaps by penning them we can vanquish our dragons.Well that's my interpretation lady :)

You are welcome :)
Still one of my favorite songs and love the dance scenes in this movie and of course the poetry, well the poem is after my own heart. I have been a dancer all my life so it sounds like you are talking to me personally Frieda. Again words after my own heart...dancing is a good way to clear your head replaced with the feeling of one who can soar. Gorgeous.

I think it's a girlie thang....we all wanted to dance like Alex Owens. Thanks muchly Shirlena.
Frieda, my friend... you certainly describe here how I feel much of the time as well, but, where I would just spit it out, you have cloaked your meaning in pretty ringlets of verse and dancing metaphors. I think this is an exceptional bit of writing.

You had me at hello... no... wait, wrong movie... you had me after the first two lines! "Most nights she dances alone/with the maniac in her head," are rare words full of delightful paradox. The rest, right down to where you whip out your sword/pen to slay the dragons, is so descriptive and evocative of the dances we do to keep ourselves whole.

Do we ever catch up? I'd like to think so, but I'll take a daily fight with dragons to any cold stone slab or fiery bier... You do me proud!

This is one of my favorite videos and the lyrics are amazing.

The interpretation of the poem can be that she is running away from the spirit voices that are trying to deviate her from achieving her life goal.

always loved this song ... such a part of my childhood :)

we all got some kind off battle to be dealing with haven't we? I do not think one single human is spared of this....

if slaying dragons is her antidote for life, well then hand me a sword sista ...

this is a great capture of thought x x
