woah mumma, i was never a barbie kind of gal, always played with cars and trucks, played softball and basketball, rode my bike all through the cane fields, played cricket with my dad, I guess I was raised in a 'you can have anything you want' kinda a way 'you just gotta go out there and grab it'
I am not so certain that Barbie was a gypsy, instead she perhaps demanded that her hair be just right she wore only the best clothing, lets face it her b***s and butt were always in magnificent shape too, I am imagining that once a week she had her nails done 'just the right shade of pink' and she probably expected to have Ken pay for everything ( I wonder what Ken did for employment, the poor bugger) having owned and sold two businesses in hospitality I worked damned hard and never expected anything from anyone, my road was always going to be hard fought, but I wouldn't change the experience for a single moment in time
what's the saying .... you reap what you sow ... d****t gals if you want a decent life, a loving man, to be surrounded by unconditional love then just put it out there, ask the universe ... believe to recieve...
and yes I agree with you Frieda on what Mad Englishman said ... Even though I am the biggest Tomboy I know I would never trade being a woman for anything :)
having said all that ... a very worth rant indeedy .....
perhaps we need some modern day Fairy Tales to reflect the reality in which we all now live ;)

Love it, FP. Yes, I was once inspired with the thought of putting "something" into a kitchen appliance but common sense told me I would probably disagree with probable consequences. This is all about jagged contrast and I can really appreciate the distant angst.

I can guess what that 'something' was too, thanks....!
Oh wow! Love the way you played with words haha
Though it's a sad truth about how fake the childhood stories are, it is a pleasure to meet reality in such a beautiful poetic form !
Very well written .
Quite weird but interesting and I love Tori Amos Music
a favorite of mine.
Nice work nicely penned and I have learned to ignore
any cussing in poems I like how you turned around some of these
words like Cinderella.
Thank you for sharing this and thank you for your lovely
review and comment you left on my page.
Blessings. Kindred poet

thought so I just wanted to ask HA...HA thank you.
Oh there is nothing more disappointing that when a young adults comes of age and learns the truth about the real world and life… it has to be one of the biggest let downs we all experience.
I love how you told this anti-fairytale with your humor.

Tell it to Santa and the Easter bunny...yep. Thanks Dale.
fairy tales used to give us hope...but now...
all we do is wonder where that fairyland disappeared to...
the slippers just don't fit anymore...at all...
i like this.."at least GI Joes have a fighting chance...
but then there are too many GI Joes now...and not enough peaceful kingdoms with princes..
so snow white will never wake up again, will she?

Satire conjures so many different emotions...I'm more likely to affiliate myself with the dark side of it than the humourous side...I know you mean business here Mrs.R, cuz you actually used a naughty word haha ;P The GI Joe presence in this piece, coupled with the Ken for GI Joe graphic, spoke volumes to me...I'm obviously a million times more Ken than Joe, but Ken has since been discontinued, and the Joes are still alive and well, with their movies and sex scenes and everything...all you need to know about things right there...hmph...
I can already see by the comments that this one has generated some strong responses, which is what the best satire is supposed to do...then again you're the best poet here Mrs.R, so it makes perfect sense...there's nothing you can't do :) xo

╰☆╮Hahaha, I love this! I wasn't a very happy girl when I realized all the fairy tales and Disney movies didn't set me up with realistic expectations of a guy. The real world is much more difficult. Great work! This is one of my favorites from you.╰☆╮
