You still manage to surprise me after all this time Mrs.R, not because of the subject matter cuz you've already proven you can tackle any topic, but the ways you get your messages across is truly something to behold. Distinct praises on the chosen, and the chosen only...it is unsettling to wonder who does the choosing, and what if it's society itself? Indifference's standing ovation underscores that feeling of unease all the more. This piece reminded me of the Dogs Of War by Floyd...prejudice and war are not unlike each other in my mind. You never fail to leave me feeling enlightened in the wake of a new poem...brilliant :) xo

The metaphor of discrimination and racism is delivered excellently in this poem. Using a storm as a metaphor not only relays the message that discrimination is strong, powerful and damaging, but it is also temporary. It will pass. Even thought the poem is short, it still remains a strong piece of writing. It's unfortunate that poems like these are still relevant, but sharing poems like these will raise awareness that it is still a problem that needs to be tackled.
I love it! So many beautiful words interlaced and connected! I really like how fun this was to read. It may have to do with a less that happy topic, but it comes across so musingly and powerfully, that I can't help but feel a bit of a cheesy grin. =D
A truly stunning write filled with raw emotions. " indifference got a standing ovation "--love this line. But in this case, my standing ovation goes to your lovely talent. :))
Almost forgot, I love the dog in the photograph. :P
Harsh truth in this poem, Frieda. America likes to pat itself on the back and congratulate itself for how far she has come, and yet we are still so far from where we should be...

Heraclitus said there always must be tension in our universe, he says if there is not tension, then the whole thing wold probably fall in upon itself and collapse, perhaps into a big black hole... I have been thinking about the consequences of this thought for a while now... it seems to make sense, but then what can be done with all of the injustices of the world?

If you want to know me, read my poetry, it's all in there. I am a mother of three sons (my finest moments) a sister, a survivor and a little bit crazy. I lost my beloved sister to suicide, so you'll.. more..
