Feigned love, a bidding to tears good night, possibly a betrayal in the atmosphere of the piece, courtesy of the other party . . . The shattering reality of everything dawning upon your speaker is breathtaking in the amount of misery that would ensue, and the attitude with which your speaker greets her sorrow is enticing, as she seems to have expected it, somewhat, in some way. Anticipated that the love would be revealed as nothing but a hoax and acting accordingly . . . Lovely poem, Frieda.

You're a tough cookie Betty, will try to do that but you forget I Never learn. :) MWAH! x
I can feel the sadness in your words Frieda, but I feel the beauty in them as well. Bittersweet...
I know the feeling too well of losing someone we love. I've heard it said, "time heals all pain"...but some pain runs too deep to heal completely. Writing about it helps me, I hope it helps you as well.
Hugs, Julie

Yes that time thing is a bunch of malarkey...thanks so much for your kind words Julie x
I love the last line...."Last dying thought in the pretense of love"....and I love the imagery of the cottongrass bloom that wilted... very nice write, Frieda!

I am also obsessed with that line :p
Join the others in liking this, just one point, I am not a fan of words broken with an abbreviation, unless you need it to parse, but that`s my POV that many don`t share !

Not a fan of the apostrophe eh? I like the way they look, but you're not alone, thanks Leslie...
A broken heart hurts and lasts for a long time. Like any raw emotional moment in life...time heals all pain and we realise that that what once was may not have been the right thing for us after all.
Such a wonderful poem Frieda, my words froze before reaching my tongue... the emotion flows from this quiver, the sadness and loneliness even in the pretense of love are difficult to bury in the tundra. She will love you tender words Frieda....

Very difficult Curt, thanks so much for your kind words sweetie...
If you want to know me, read my poetry, it's all in there. I am a mother of three sons (my finest moments) a sister, a survivor and a little bit crazy. I lost my beloved sister to suicide, so you'll.. more..
