Darkly flutter'd ~~

Darkly flutter'd ~~

A Poem by Frieda P

Darkly entranced
butterflies,

flying
 towards the night shadows
             fluttered
to their demise,
too close to a
deceptive black moon,

competing with
                      the numbness of death

Like many of your poems, you create a mood very well and deliver a profound thought in the final line.
It seems sad at first, this dark demise. Yet, as you say so eloquently, it is a staving off of the nothingness of death. You invite me to ask myself many questions. Is pain not preferable to death at times? How much more is it desirable to feel a dark "fluttering" when there is nothing else?

Lovely writing.

Competing with the numbness of death, beauty struggling to maintain its whimsical facade even in the face of the darkest of adversities, still believing that said adversity is a deceptive black moon.. still believing that said adversity is still the savior from its own troubles.

Truly a profound piece.

I haven't read your works in quite a long time but I do remember the effect they always had. They are magical. Quite like the mood here.
