Boldness of ink ~

Boldness of ink ~

A Poem by Frieda P
"

prompted after a conversation within a review...

"
voice clearly purg'd though boldness of inky passages
echoing that which most words cannot convey
pen cleanses the sins & fortifies the soul
speaks in volumes of verbose spirit
weeping in steaks of tearful metaphors,
bloodied and effervescent on the page
trails of outpouring sentiment's reward
          & emotional trials that translate
               of transcribed tribulations,
piercing the eye for all to see
   reflections smatter'd upon poetry
 within redemption's freedom
            & salvation's reality

this could almost be a sequel to your other poem about sylvia.

she was so strong in her poetry, as she put it she would "eat men like air"

but in real life she played the subservient role she was expected to...and suffered much for it.

love the angst in your poetry...the sarcasm...you are so good at it, my friend.

Damn Frieda, you never fail me at " pen cleanses the sins & fortifies the soul...." and you are sure write haha. I enjoy reading your works about poetry and what it means to feel free at crystallizing the thoughts onto paper. Darling, great work. This poem had me at hello

Tis strange how talking too much about emotions can too often upset and annoy, and yet, when a writer-poet expresses him or herself in rich unreined language, the power of the ink enriches and encloses emotions. Then what... the spirit flies, lighter than was, relieved of the responsibility of what to say, of how to avoid misunderstanding perhaps, '.. echoing that which most words cannot convey pen cleanses the sins & fortifies the soul ~ speaks in volumes of verbose spirit .. ' superb

We truly weep in tears of mournful metaphors. Ink is our blood but we carry our angst within and let it bleed in our words if only it could truly purge the pain.

In this poem, you have penned the emotions and thoughts of every poet and writer....writing really is liberating & as they say the pen is mightier than the sword, what a pen can do the sword cannot.
My favorite line 'pen cleanses the sin & fortifies the soul'.
Lovely poem. :)

I think "steaks" is supposed to be "streaks"...I do not wish to offend you understand. "To write is human, to edit, divine." Stephen King But I agree with much of the content. I once said that I write with a razor to my wrist...letting my soul spill like blood onto the page...it is a purge and a catharsis of sorts. But more than that I think it is a reaching out that allows the inner self a moment of freedom...to walk in the sun and be one with our reader. Life can be a lonely thing...even in a crowd if we are failed by those surrounding us. We only wish to be understood and accepted. I recall a poem by D. H. Lawrence where he tells a lover he is "no god"..."do not look on me and appreciate me, it is blasphemy" but he does wish to be understood...it is enough. And even that is sometimes a great deal to hope for. I enjoyed reading. Thank you for sharing.
