Love's letter silences ~

Love's letter silences ~

A Poem by Frieda P

Pressed your love letter to my breast,
written in temporary braille upon my lips
meaning resonated in a recessed heart
too late after the embers flirted
dancing eyes were too blinded by light
to see the strength in reverence's destiny
      misread consent of misinterpret'd promises
   scripted upon history's ravaged silences
your words lost amidst faith & sanctity
left to burn within the solitude of your fire

You've managed to capture two entirely different perspectives of a relationship from the same participants of the relationship itself, the breathtaking apex in which all the emotions have finally been transferred in stunning perfection to a letter while the other is too lost in the dance to truly treasure the words for what they were. Eventually, the apex led downhill and something happened to take them from your speaker, and your speaker nudges from being lost in trance to the apex that the other had so lonesomely inhabited by themself, and the speaker finally comprehends the letter for what it's worth . . .
Amazing, Frieda, keep it up.

Reminds me of a first love, mine in fact, what a delightful and terrifying time in all our eras.

you've got so many amazing images in this:
braille upon my lips, recessed heart, history's ravaged silences, solitude of your fire...
I'm not a love-afficionado, but this was utterly absorbing. Fantastic work

Frieda... You have a way of taking the breath out of me when reading your work. This is a strong yet slightly painful piece to read. I feel I can fully understand this write. The last line kicked me in the gut, "left to burn within the solitude of your fire". Really, they create the fire, so why are we the ones feeling the pain? xo (:

"Resonated in a recessed heart"

Resonates with me also, really evocative word-smithery, Frieda, love the structural play too!

Thanks for writing!

All kinds of emotions poured out here, like all forms of words to paper. Letters can be of anything the heart puts out and feels, especially when it come to love, and maybe too late when they finally get what it all about. Phenomenal piece.

This one has mixed emotions for me, passion, desire, drive and then there is shatter, memory, struggle and pain. Really well written, it was like a whirlpool of emotions

I can relate to this -- the song and the poem. A great, emotional write in a compact space.

This one has been simmering in my mind since you posted it, and I'm still not sure how to articulate how moved I am by it. To take a song by one of the grandmasters of songwriting and make it your own with this kind of precision and emotional impact is something only you can do...I can just picture him flashing one of those sly smirks of his in approval while concocting some flirtatious response in his head. Love letters are bittersweet...to hold a love letter in one's hand is like holding a piece of the lover, a memento that was born in their hands and comes to fruition in yours...meaning resonated in a recessed heart...that line recessed MY heart when I read it. You always find untapped areas of the heart to fill with your words Mrs.R, and when you find them, you occupy them for good. xo

The flames of love can rage out of control, but that allows us to become stronger once we rise from the ashes.
