After reading your poem (several times now), I stood took inventory on all my moveable parts (and grey matter) and let out a big hallelujah, I'm still alive and not in some delusional, hypocritical dream looking for redemption. Of course now Bob Marley's " Redemption Songs" is playing in my head, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Frieda, WTF (not allowed to curse)!! This is some trip you are taking us on.. delusional remorse, virginal volition, and more.. but with all you metaphorically and imaginative images can there be a salvational embrace, surrendered or not.. I think not..
Of course another explanation for my review is too much of that 100 proof wine... hic. But high or not..er..I mean lover

there's a little bit of everything in this poem. I love the imagery going on and the words feel sophisticated and yet sarcastic, like they're taking their jab at the world and its going-ons. I like the bitterness of this poem, and count myself blessed for being young enough to not understand them all quite yet.
I felt a lot of "selling your soul" and religious hypocrisy within the context of this poem.
Lines like:
confessional's lie in rewards to sin again
blessed are the cracked for they do not see
Reminded me of how confessions/pardons make way to repeat offenders and that there is no true penance. And then I found your favorite... "volition." Your poetry makes me now use that word in my daily conversation. References to white lightning and 100 proof red wine had me wanting to get a drink, but again, I believe these were analogies to sin.
An interesting piece. A lot going on. Sin, remorse all in some cyclical whirlpool.
Different, but I enjoyed. Nice work, Frieda.

Anytime, dear. You know we think alike! I agree wholeheartedly.
And this is why you sit so highly amongst us... Just incredible magic going on in this piece. You truly display that writing is a gifted passion. I loved every line here... Dense complexities, but so very reachable. Brilliant!
