Inky recall ~

Inky recall ~

A Poem by Frieda P

your inky recall
   recoils under
        my skin
   took its toll
    in beastly
        violent shades
black & blue
       darkly drawn
    bad blood
    crimson oozing
       burnt scars
indelibly sunk
       into my psyche
encas'd my heart
      in ice temples
       glass'd apprehension
   left its mark
         upon the soul
marr'd of spiteful apathy
             bane of my existence
retreating behind
   secrets of
        closed doors
            remembrance's

There's a reason I can't read your stuff when I'm sick Mrs.R...the richness of the images and emotions you evoke demands one's undivided attention, as does your poetic talent, which is unparalleled. The connection between ink and blood is irresistible to a writer...I think we all can relate to that on the deepest level. You've been indelibly sunk in my psyche for a long time love...the resonance of your voice in my imagination, and my heart, defies description...awesomeness here as always :) xo

Amazing use of words my friend. I like the way you used the short statements to make your point. I had to read again. Always a pleasure to read your words.

Frieda P, my friend, your mind goes deep making connections between the ink of a tatoo artist on the brain/psyche and the crimson blood of a living, breathing heart. I may have even missed more of your ink intentions. Perhaps you meant ink from the pen of a writer...I just don't know..but it is beautiful in a very dark way that only blood and ink printed indelibly on someone's brain can be. I love the imagery. You are a master of word usage and poetic metaphors. I am in awe of your abilities. Truly. You are a beautiful linguist. I love the shaping of the poem into a rough drop of blood dripping down....

very deep missus, with those ''violent shades'' of ''black and blue'', ''indelibly sunk in my psyche'', metaphorically brilliant, you must have had a big shovel digging this one up:D

Hmm...from reading the comments below, everyone had associated this with tattoos. I can see what they have in mind, but I didn't take the "ink" part literally.

I thought of it more like the scars from an abusive relationship, which, in a sense, are like tattoos, but have much worse associations with them. Either way, they are sobering reminders of a past we'd like to forget.

If it *is* literally about a tattoo, then it must be a horrifying reminder as well...even something that we once got voluntarily can feel like a scar, if what we associate it with is so negative. Nonetheless, this poem is exceptionally well written as always, Frieda!

I especially enjoy your:

scrawl'd inklings upon fray'd pages
scarr'd into parchment
with blood-dipped quills
cauteriz'd letters, indelible pain

Thought you would appreciate that.

Tattoos that once meant the world yet the world has grown dark and would forever leave a mark even if were to be removed . . . Well done. I liked this.

bad tattoos are difficult to erase ..but there are those that can cover them wonderfully ..not sure which is better .... the original ink always remains ... or the burnt scars of removal a dreadful reminder ... so dark and yet so sublime .. your trademark Frieda ... i think this one is one of your best ... love love love ya!
