yesterday's verse

yesterday's verse

A Poem by Frieda P
"

~broken poetry

"

Broken poetry lost its rhyme
etched in a fit of raging volition
sketchy melodrama pluck'd center stage
took a forced bow in gust's emotions
genuflected in yesterday's feather'd verse
perused of prayer's sing song devotion
darkly caged birds chirp'd manifestations
     verbiage's repulsed twist of fate
took a dive off metaphorical mental cliffs
landed in puddle of ingrate's diction
paradox of loquacity's silent stares
       argued mediocrity's sublimity at
quarter to insanity of rhythm'd time

Oh my poor aching head, feels like I am back, in my pre-university calculus class of 24 years ago. I like, but not sure, what I am liking.

Though this reads like an arrow shot in a specific direction it still harbors the beauty that is your poetry. Broken poetry, yes I know this feeling. When the ink becomes invisible all that is left to look at is myself.

You my friend will never lose that ink it seems...your quiver is filled with beautiful pens waiting on you to use it to amaze all of us.

Thanks for your kind review Jack, there's a poem in there somewhere.
Each pair of lines forms a different and unique image, Frieda, and your wording is amazing. This is one that will have to rattle around my measly brain for a bit!

Ha that made me laugh Rita...thanks muchly, my brain is twisted sometimes, enjoy your Sunday!
Not sure about the meaning here, Frieda....a bit ambiguous. "darkly caged birds sing manifestations"....what a line.....carries with it so many images. There is a hypnotizing darkness in this one.....I will have to come back to read it again to see exactly what it is about...or perhaps I will never really know for sure. Lydi**

It was meant to be cryptic Lydikey, thanks for your thoughts here, muchly appreciated.
Oh damn, I will admit, I did need to read this a few times to get the full meaning of it, not that I'm complaining reading your poetry over and over. This is deep and has a powerful message.

I loved these lines, they just about whacked me in the face! Flip flops & all that jazz! xo

Powerful use of words. Each statement can stand on its own.
"darkly caged birds chirp'd manifestations
verbiage's repulsed twist of fate"
The above lines were my favorite. Create a sad vision. No weakness in the outstanding poetry.

Grazie mille Coyote.
This one is deeper than its surface, and hides something in its underbelly, not so soft and squishy.

I love AnC, and all that imperfection makes them so good. Made them so good. Anyway, a brilliantly written poem by you. Has the feel of a Goth flick.

Wow thanks, the Plague rats would be proud. ;-)
Broken lives...broken relationships...broken poetry..theres so many ways to read this one. All of them dark and a bitter. This one will resonate with many readers as who hasnt been broken. This one sang to me like a caged bird. Mournful but sweet.
