What a magnifcence of words! This is a mix of emotion and experience, the looking into rather than just looking at. Your word use is just breathtaking, near muddle of legend and idiom.. tis astounding, one of the best of your very best and how many those are!
In an intensely thoughtful way, you've re-interpreted the canvas.. magical!

A beautiful impressionistic delight of poetry and music and more! One can taste and see the myriad of moments you capture and express through your joyful dance of linked letters! :)
Whoa, this is so creative! Who knew that EVERYTHING in the world (i.e., food, music, poetry, paintings, sensuality- aka, all the arts) could be so poetic? And I love how your last few lines explicitly state this huge connection- all of which is very insightful, in my point of view.
A pleasure to read.

Thanks so much for this glowing review, muchly appreciated Cascara!
One of your many, MANY talents is being able to find inspiration in outside art. This was quite the carousel ride you sent me on here Mrs.R...I wasn't sure if I was reading poetry, sipping wine, making love (...nah I wasn't doing that, I was just reading about that part), painting, listening to the ocean, playing with Rubik's Cubes, or a multitude of other things. Of course, I can do it all when I'm under you poetic spell. Every line is a knockout, there is never a lull in your work...I finish every poem trying to figure out how to tell you how unbelievably good you are, as I'm pretty much out of expressions :) xo

Frieda - though I've yet to read *all* of your poetry, I believe this must be one of your best. The descriptions are so full of life and vivid: "dark cherry wine lingerie/Beethoven's flair of symphony." Each line evokes many sounds, scents, pictures, and emotions.
This poem is not merely sexy - it has elements of sadness, fear, mystery, love, and beauty all wrapped into one (as Emma said below, "a magnificence of words"). I've had to read it several times in an attempt to decipher the meaning, and even after multiple readings, I still may not know what you had in mind.
But it also seems like the kind of poem from which each reader could draw her own meanings and feelings. I do have one small critique (unless this was done on purpose) - in line 7, you wrote "bonadage and silky wraps." Was that intended to say "bondage"? Even so, certain misspellings can work to your advantage, and in this case, "bonadage" somehow fits the rhythm better. So, feel free to correct it or not - you're the creator.
Once again, this is absolutely wonderful work - my favorite of yours that I've read so far!

Frieda, honey, you do use some amazing words in your poems. Individually the words are simple, but the way you combine them boggles my mind. I couldn't come up with something like this if my life depended on it!
