Apprehension's Rhyme

Apprehension's Rhyme

A Poem by Frieda P

Apprehension, tucked in heart's intuition
    love grows old and insignificant
      once upon a time there
          was felicitous anticipation

This plight haunts my memory's spirit
   captured within guilt's sunlight
    windows upon my soul,
         now darkly tinged contemplation

Pensive thoughts rain hit or miss through
                   frosted reflector's windowpain
sad cricket sounds remind me of an old rhythm
              when  poetry still rhymed ~

Winds blow by, arresting breath
as growing older fades star's night
      wise man once told me,
believe in
the angels of your own fateful heart

We used to dance in well versed harmony
bluebirds never sang of stormy endings
and there was no such thing
as 'once upon a' in time

Never such a thing as once upon a time.. Telling the sad tale of a love that's kickstarted and withered far too many times to count, enhanced by your wooing diction. I liked this, it speaks of a memory uniquely, in a way I can't pinpoint but still gets to me.

Emotional write of rainbow reminiscences. Compared to your other poems, this is quite light but cuts to the core. I love its simplicity and quality.

Another wisdom filled piece, sad that good things like love at times do not last, life has so many different colours, sometimes a bright colour other times dull colours we even forget how bright life was.

Ooh! Love that last line. New love is so hopeful and naive... Beautiful, Frieda.

Heartfelt write. The first stanza is so relatable.

Your very welcome Frieda. :)
Well done!. I loved the soud of your images. Simple, direct, strong and mixed with sadness and defiance. I had never considered the inherent sadness of "once" upon a time before. Thank you for that.

So good to see you back here again Steve, thanks so much for your kind words.
Ah, when poetry still rhymed...when things made sense and when life was good. Sounds like today is a day for reflection and a bit of melancholy. Bittersweet nostalgia in every line, Frieda. Lydi**
