'Opheliac~

'Opheliac~

A Poem by Frieda P

My eternal spring of Ophelia ~
   madness bedecked of wildflowers
 vacant within virginal white tears
sunk to the depths of despair
ocean's vast siren call
    consuming beyond reality
barefoot'd romanticizing
   melancholy waves of emotions
sank in a lover's betrayal
   stately and classical dignity
 feigned delusions of confusion
delirium of mania's absurdity
      secretly married ruse of insanity
 doused in bewildered over flow
      preserving a life within entity~
   Fleurs éternelles de la France

Lorsque vous parlez français, il donne tout le poème je ne sais quois! Hamlet went mad with his love for her. Quite the Valentine's Day thought, n'est pas? In your eternal Spring, will you go to a nunnery as Ophelia was instructed to do? No way! You will sing your songs (write your poems) handing us the flowers they create in our minds. I so enjoyed the fact you used a Shakespearean character as the inspiration here. Wonderfully unique....and so YOU! Lydi**

All good Frieda! :-D
Your chosen diction seems to suggest that this is a misery never felt before, and the depth in which pain can resonate is almost so tremendously absurd that you wouldn't believe it, had you not been feeling it yourself. The aftermath leads you to frame the memory in a place of your mind, forever able to revisit, and thus the misery. Well done.

I feel all my poetry whether it's my story or not, thanks Tai....muchly appreciate your thoughts.
Ophelia of the virginal and vacant white, such a tragic story of betrayal and madness. You capture the vortex of her disengagement from the world beautifully within the tornado of your words.

Woo tornadoes, grazie mille Anne!
I love the opening line, that's fantastic in itself. Reading this has made me realise (again) just how integral Shakespeare is to our language and how it has moulded it. Begad's we are riddled with the stuff. You have made a great tribute to Ophelia with this luxury edition of poetry and it cuts right in to that world back then.

Forbidden love is a time bomb waiting to go off and what man could resist a Pre-Raphaelite woman bedecked?

I like the music and the artwork. The description create good vision and my favorite topic is myth and story. I wanted to read more. Ophelia is one of my favorite characters.
"barefoot'd romanticizing

The above lines were my favorite. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

This is another pen that no-one but you could write so beautifully and with so much meaning. The imagery and wording adds so much and it makes it so much more powerful.

Loved it.
