Epic Blunder

Epic Blunder

A Poem by Frieda P

...and birds sang in their melodious harmony
unaware the city lights were dimming,
as thunderous clouds echo'd the starry skies
  heaven's floodgates open'd with a roaring plea
what happened to our proud ancestor's
who believed us to be true?

a wise old owl glare'd as he interrupted
        whilst sitting in
 a tree

grown of concrete rooted intentions

  'it
isn't in the blood but the heart'
love for the land and respect
         for spirits and creatures
still abounds, yet mankind has lost it's mind,
          pollution's flagrant dark noise surrounds
culture and civilization made room for modernization
looming on magenta's majestic horizons lies a smog,
footprints of soot'd snow and darkly hue'd ponds,
where white dove feathers can no longer fly~

Quiet overcame the earthly night, without uttering a sound
just wicked torrents of tears that never ended in another sunrise
...and the humming of birds ceased in enraged teeming rains

Frieda, I am so glad you have written this poem, a poem like this, it reminds me that we poets have more to say than just the jazziness of our own lives, loves, sensualities. That we have a responsibilities to each other, and all life on this fragile planet. And you have also done this in a metaphorically rich and beautiful way, with words dripping in the colors of our world. I couldn't hear the music but I appreciated the butterfly.. and the owl.. to me, this poem shows the depth of your artistry... really nice Frieda.. (I got out my nano and danced while listening to Michael Jackson's 'Earth Song' also a cool video if you wanna watch on youtube)... can I hug you Frieda.. er.. I mean I love your poem.. ;0)

Gorgeous, strong, purposeful and YES! Thought provoking for those who care. I care! I love your voice sweet Sister! This is a breath of fresh air as we all ponder the atrocities of corporate mankind, the delusions of those mice and rats caught up in the materialism, the rat race redefined into the death of our humanity.
This piece is but a spark, a spark to ignite a fire that I hope will spread into a wild fire of knowledge as we all pause and truly realize what you are screaming here in such poetic fluidity...
I Love this Wifey!

We are the Teachers, as well as the Doers, that can lead the World into balance...
The funny thing is... again not so much funny as "funny" like "funny smelling"... human kind is supposedly created to be the caretaker of this Earth and all of nature.
The true epic blunder was to think anything in the universe could work outside the laws it was created within. Humanity just got caught up following the father of all blunders... Even those who claim to desire to take care of nature don't even understand how to do it. Anything short of total balance will fail. Do you know anyone who is totally balanced? Hmmm?

I like the gentle desperation your penned this with. Also this picture of cleansing water. I think we will see plenty of it. :)

I like the philosophical leanings even if I do personally go back to a different origin than you might intend.

Can there truly be balance in a modern society I wonder Scott....
This piece is amazing. It was different than what I thought it would be. It spelled out mankind's biggest possible blunder in a very artistic way.
Well done!

Love it. A strong wonderful write speaking on what matters and is important. Sometimes rallying for that cause in hopes of getting their attention and changes made. It's a shame what goes no matter where, but inevitably do what we can and hope for those changes to come.

Thanks BlackRose, it's a universal dilemma, we can only do our best I suppose.

Yes, every little bit from each of us count in bigs ways.
The poem had the feel of a Native American tale. The good description led the reader into thoughts and beautiful place to be.
'it isn't in the blood but the heart'
love for the land and respect
for spirits and creatures"
The lines seem so simple. The gifts of the earth are not appreciated till they are gone. No weakness in the excellent poetry.
