Epic Blunder

Epic Blunder

A Poem by Frieda P

...and birds sang in their melodious harmony
unaware the city lights were dimming,
as thunderous clouds echo'd the starry skies
  heaven's floodgates open'd with a roaring plea
what happened to our proud ancestor's
who believed us to be true?

a wise old owl glare'd as he interrupted
        whilst sitting in
 a tree

grown of concrete rooted intentions

  'it
isn't in the blood but the heart'
love for the land and respect
         for spirits and creatures
still abounds, yet mankind has lost it's mind,
          pollution's flagrant dark noise surrounds
culture and civilization made room for modernization
looming on magenta's majestic horizons lies a smog,
footprints of soot'd snow and darkly hue'd ponds,
where white dove feathers can no longer fly~

Quiet overcame the earthly night, without uttering a sound
just wicked torrents of tears that never ended in another sunrise
...and the humming of birds ceased in enraged teeming rains

Frieda, I am so glad you have written this poem, a poem like this, it reminds me that we poets have more to say than just the jazziness of our own lives, loves, sensualities. That we have a responsibilities to each other, and all life on this fragile planet. And you have also done this in a metaphorically rich and beautiful way, with words dripping in the colors of our world. I couldn't hear the music but I appreciated the butterfly.. and the owl.. to me, this poem shows the depth of your artistry... really nice Frieda.. (I got out my nano and danced while listening to Michael Jackson's 'Earth Song' also a cool video if you wanna watch on youtube)... can I hug you Frieda.. er.. I mean I love your poem.. ;0)

Not sure humanity has lost it's mind .. maybe there are just too damn many minds. A poem as abundant in life as the planet is. Nice music.

Aw, this is very nice! You can definitely tell you pour your heart into your writing. Very beautiful. I love the videos you pair with your writing.

"pollution's flagrant dark noise surrounds" how sad and powerful of a line!

;-)
For the first time I have read a poem of your which does not delve in human emotions...the first stanza is brilliant...I really like "
a wise old owl glare'd as he interrupted
whilst sitting in a tree
grown of concrete rooted intentions"
I will be honest, I didn't quite like the second part much...but I guess it's not your fault as a poet...there's too much of "human cruelty" there...

Our proud ancestors... what would they say if they could see us now? A thoughtful poem on an important topic, Frieda.
