Divided Asunder~

A Poem by Frieda P
"

♥ For my beloved sister Lee ♥

"
Whilst you were vibrantly breathing,
they'd make remarks, we looked so alike
I was naturally delighted,
since you were much younger than me
You were still too silly a girl
to realize...how fickle fate can be
'you' wanted to appear older,
so it suited us both fine...
I relish over these memories

You're gone, I no longer see my reflection,
as though part of me has been removed...
I wonder if you realize what you've done,
splitting us in two, sisters torn apart
I'm still the one alive, so to speak
taking up space, trying to breathe the air,
although I know you'd want me to thrive...
it's so hard without you here by my side

Your butterfly spirit still dwells giving me strength
more than time and space has come between us...
I'd much rather people were comparing us still,
that our laugh was identical and they couldn't tell us apart

Still pick up the phone to hear your saved messages
I overheard someone speak of you the other day
'which, the one 'still living' on Lindsley?'  they had no clue
that breath means nothing when you're divided asunder

Your sister is so pretty, and she does look like you a lot. I don't want to use the word "was" coz she still lives within you, her spirit is with you, and this is seen in this poem. This is a very good tribute to her. May she continually rest in peace.

I have lost five brothers to violence and drugs. I remember the good days. I tried to forget the bad days. But the bad days are rebirth. Three brothers left babies wanting to know of their fathers today. We remember the people we loved and missed. Thank you for the poem. We need to remember the laughter and the good times.

My dear Frieda, my heart sinks when I know you're hurting in this way. The first time I saw her picture, I thought it was you...I don't think I've ever mentioned that before. You're a beautiful woman, as was your sister, and even though you may not hear it as much, it doesn't cancel out all the times you've heard it in the past. I know my situation is a lot different, but when it comes to my father, people are visibly reluctant to bring him up with me in person, as I was always cited as the one in the family that closely resembled him in a number of manners. It's obvious that people are always worried about saying the wrong thing at the risk of making me feel bad. Perhaps that is the case for you as well. I'm also hesitant to talk of you in spiritual terms as well when it comes to her, but I believe with all my heart that there is always a piece of her with you. I've had enough moments in the time following dad's death to believe in such a phenomenon whole-heartedly. I could elaborate but I don't want to infringe on your own philosophies which I know you have. But I do urge you to have faith that she's never far away as she may feel. You've offered up an astoundingly moving piece here, as you always do when it comes to here. There is clearly a lot of you in it, but you express yourself in a way that make us all relate. Overhearing things are the only time things are painful for me...I'd much rather people just talked to me cuz I love to hear their memories of him as well. But when all is said and done, we must cope in our own personal ways. In the case of you and I, our writing is our therapy. Your work would be more therapeutic me if not for my knowledge of your own hurt. But you know who your friends are, and you know we're always here no matter what, whether it's to talk, or to read the feelings you relay in your poetry. Much love to you my friend, and you know my heart is always with you...xoxo

This is so incredibly heartbreaking.. It's not only the loss of someone so close but the loss of oneself when we lose someone who means the most. I could see all the emotion. It's like the poet speaks about only one person in this poem, two sisters one soul, divided apart by an unfortunate event. It's hard to live on without the other half what makes one whole. Beyond touching, beautiful and I'm sorry for your loss. You've definitely got a Guardian Angel, i'd like to hear about the fun times and good stories you shared some day through your poetry :)

My sweet friend, my heart is broken into a million pieces as I read this poem today and I imagine your heart as well lying in pieces upon the floor. My eyes hold tears for only you and even though I know that doesn't really help, it is all I can do. You know how I feel, you know that if there were anything I could do to ease your pain I would, without hesitation. These loses take us with them, little parts of us disenegrate as each day passes, but Frieda, my dear friend, you are an amazing woman. Your talent is beyond belief. You bring so much joy to so many around here everyday, your make us feel and think and question, and that my friend is something that should paint your smile, at least a little. Your soul is so very pure and even in its shattered state, your heart is immense. You care deeply and you are always there when someone here needs you.

Time they say heals all wounds, I just pray that there is enough of it to heal your wounds.

I realize that nothing I can say will ever bring your sister back to you, but please know, her spirit lives on in you and you share that spirit with us everyday.

Your poem has ripped every anguished tear from my eyes that they can produce today. It was beautiful, tender, sad, sharing and as always amazing.

Ah Frieda, you own my tears right now. I know how much you loved her and how much losing her has taken a piece of you with her. She is a beautiful soul and you're keeping her memory alive - you always will. This poem has me in tears, like I said at the beginning.

And like I always tell you, she is your guardian Angel, watching over you, guiding you and loving you forever and always. I know she is extremely proud of the stunning, strong woman you are. This poem is heart wrenching but beautiful.

Frieda I'm at a loss, you know I love you and I'm here for you. I'm sending all my love and hugs to you. xoxo

There are those people that unite with our souls to the point if death takes them away we are still united with them in the spirit. There are those saved messages that will never be deleted. There are those fickle fates that seem unjust for many. And there is a great poem to pay tribute to a beloved sister...A very sad and wonderful poem...:(...............

Ahh Frieda ... so so very sorry. I, too lost a sister many years ago now. The song, of course, is perfect. One of my all time favorites - I have 3 different versions of it saved on my IPod. It's an absolutely perfect tribute to your sister. I'm hugging you in my heart.
