Divided Asunder~

A Poem by Frieda P
"

♥ For my beloved sister Lee ♥

"
Whilst you were vibrantly breathing,
they'd make remarks, we looked so alike
I was naturally delighted,
since you were much younger than me
You were still too silly a girl
to realize...how fickle fate can be
'you' wanted to appear older,
so it suited us both fine...
I relish over these memories

You're gone, I no longer see my reflection,
as though part of me has been removed...
I wonder if you realize what you've done,
splitting us in two, sisters torn apart
I'm still the one alive, so to speak
taking up space, trying to breathe the air,
although I know you'd want me to thrive...
it's so hard without you here by my side

Your butterfly spirit still dwells giving me strength
more than time and space has come between us...
I'd much rather people were comparing us still,
that our laugh was identical and they couldn't tell us apart

Still pick up the phone to hear your saved messages
I overheard someone speak of you the other day
'which, the one 'still living' on Lindsley?'  they had no clue
that breath means nothing when you're divided asunder

Your sister is so pretty, and she does look like you a lot. I don't want to use the word "was" coz she still lives within you, her spirit is with you, and this is seen in this poem. This is a very good tribute to her. May she continually rest in peace.

My eyes are filled with tears. I always wonder, if they somehow knew from the other side, how hard those closest to them struggle with the burden of loss...with having a part of your heart cut out forever, would they regret leaving? She lives in you still. I just don't know what to say...reading this affected me. This is a beautiful write, Frieda.

My tears are with you sweet precious poetess, as your pain is understandable and truly felt.
This is a beautiful tribute and a wonderful expression of the love you have for your dear sister.
May her memory comfort and bring you peace, as her spirit strengthens, guiding you the rest of your days.
Much love, light, and blessings to you. Beautiful photos as well. Definitely a favorite.

Frieda, this is touching. So much pain is expressed here and I'm sorry to know you have suffered such a personal loss. She is as pretty as you and indeed, she looks like you in a lot of ways. I don't know the appropriate words of comfort for you but you know that I care...

Very emotional piece. My aunt died 4 years ago and yesterday was her birthday. This makes me think of what my mom was probably feeling. The two of them were always together growing up, even though they were two of 8 siblings. Even though nothing's been the same since she left, my mother is still better at handling her absence now. I pray you reach a point where you can think of her without your heart breaking.

"Still pick up the phone to hear your saved messages"

I once recorded a video of my brother on a family event. I still watch that video just to hear his giggles! I miss him so much! :(

You're a great poet Frieda! :)

No, it doesn't. She is part of you. A very beautiful and truthful write.
