Icy Chamber'd Heart

Icy Chamber'd Heart

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Christina Perri ~ Jar of Hearts

"
chamber'd hearts,
    encased in a slippery tundra
icy eruptions stopped the flow
  walking backwards on a wire
took my shivery breath away
then slamm'd me upon the earth,
puppet on a string slic'd the chords
scratchy record music off the charts
spinning round broken promises
scars ripp'd deep within my soul
collection of your jar'd hearts,
lined the shelves a'side my spirit
broken glass cut into vein'd desire
ghostly pallor of prickly thorn'd roses
reflective glass casings tinged crimson
regrets dimmed gasps of light's recovery
unleashed vibrations of claret recoil
learn'd to live within half exhalations
not missing your kiss of deathly grip
no return to retrieve the bloody pieces
you don't get to break me apart again

'Who do you think you are?"

Hard hitting, spoken in loud volumes, dark, deep and oh so angy it seems. You take a pen, a tiny instrument of creation and wield it like a stilleto, quick slashes to the heart of the matter and all the while wrapping the entire package in something so very wonderful, the pain can't be near as bad as it might...but even if it is...slash away my friend. There is beauty in your anger'd words.

Thanks so much Brittany, jazz'd you enjoyed my rant.
This one smells of infidelity and all its machinations. And I know it too well. The pain here oozes from every line...bitter and vile. You picked the perfect song and I love the ending. Perfect all around..

Sigh, guess too many of us have been there............
Tearing apart in the deathly grip of love forsaken is devastating and tinged with crimson lettings walking back and forth in ghostly halls of the past. Broken promises and lies make those inner volcanoes explode with anger and rage or just disgust...Excellent...:)...............

OMG, this song is dear to me for multiple reasons but it is perfect for your poem. I loved this write, kind of like a purging in a way but damn girl, you tell it like it is! Phwoar!

A powerful write with a little disgust and venom? You have so many strong, powerful lines in here and I like how you interpreted a little of the song in to your poem.... it was great.

A powerful flip flops (RED ones) & all that jazz

It's early morning...the font size made me strain a little to read it.
Do I sense a little venom here..LOL ?
Well it's good to get it out sometimes.
Enjoyed the read.
