Sea E'scape

Sea E'scape

A Poem by Frieda P

I lie still in the midnight surf
crashing waves rushing over me
pummeling an already broken soul
ravaging my cold chamber'd heart
torn apart by thunderous clouds,
that day you sail'd for better horizons

Sinking breathlessly onto the edge,
hoping for ocean's depth to unfurl
this magnitude of boundless space
left behind in your parting tides,
sand engulfs my weeping eyes
etching how blind'd love can be

Hauntingly sad violin cries in the distance,
strumming the siren call on wing'd strings
whilst ebb'd flow of tears immerse,
drowning ceaselessly in streams...

I like where this is coming from right from the first line. I am a water baby, so midnight surf is my kind of place to be...The term "cold-chambered heart" is great! This reminds me of a time when I tossed off my clothes in the winter on Ocean Beach in San Francisco in front of all my friends who I used to go to the beach and play guitar with and I ran out into the water in the middle of the night because I felt, like you are describing, I was broken and lonely!! I had had a terrible break up. "This magnitude of boundless space" really gets to the heart of it! I like that this is not an overtly negative piece. The title "E'scape" says that there is a "seascape of hope" here. It is less "sad" than melancholy. It is less "tragic" than mournful. I always love that you have an overall conception that works! I am always saddened when people write one dimensional poetry. This clearly has a number of levels of interpretation and plot. That is always a pleasure in your writing!! There is the superficial but also the profound, and everything in-between.

you are an artist my dear. having said that, i dont even know the real meaning of an artist LOL. but i also know that artists tend to play with whatever they have to convey the best of their feelings or lessons or whatever. and that, is you my dear the way you toss the words round is amazing and they certainly do adore you. i loved evry inch of this poem the imagery and the no so obvious language and personification you used.... u know them "Hauntingly sad violin cries "

Thanks so much Ahena!! :-)
I think you're a water sign too my big Sis, this was utterly beautiful, deep, touching heartfelt, and brought me honestly back to the shores of my north coast here.... beautiful music...how could it otherwise, related to Brunuh VIlle and Andrian Von Zigler, those are masters... here I see a connection, and love it... composers of fantasy genre are rarly noticed, glad you find them too, they need more respect these days.

Your write is stunning. It says all, in such a beauty of short lined verse.
I felt home here Sis, I do always when I read you, I wished I had more time,
to delve in every single write, but I will in vacations, promise.... fan of you love xx

I certainly did. :) and your welcome. :) :D
I think that using the ocean/sea in poetry is a beautiful thing. I went through a phase where that's all I wrote about for a while. This is wonderful.

I don't think I can articulate how moved I am by this piece love. You've channeled many of the things that run through my mind when I look out at the shore from my kitchen window. You've given an unspeakably vivid voice to those thoughts here...I'm speechless...what can I say, you've struck a chord in me with this one Mrs.R...xo

This is a beautiful verse, but "better horizons?" surely this is not the case if the author is speaking of someone leaving her.
