Kerfuffl'd

Kerfuffl'd

A Poem by Frieda P

Mind kerfuffle'd
it must be me
when history keeps repeating,       repeating
unfurling chaos & confusion,
who else is to blame?

The narrator reminds me that although we are directly responsible for each moment in our life, unpleasant things do happen to pleasant people. But when history begins repeating, wouldn't it do us well to remember that old adage, "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me"?

A friend once explained forgiveness to me like this....

When a dog bites me, I can forgive the dog, because it's a dog doing what dogs do. But I don't have to keep sticking my hand in the pen.

Thank you for such a reflective piece.

Hmmm, this could be a commentary on humans in general or on one person, either way, it is a great little verse.

History repeats, and maybe after a hundred times, our responses change. I think that's the best we can hope for...

You could always blame me...you would probably be right. But what I know I am right about is you are an amazing poet, even a sarcastic little ditty like this carries so much meaning. I will probably be a carpet in my next life because I am floored everytime I read your work.

Perhaps Pryde, thanks.
Do we ever learn? Are we destined to repeat the same mistakes over and over again? Sometimes it does seem that way, my friend. Blame it on the rain.....hey, it worked for Milli Vanilli way back when! :) I liked this. Lydi**

It's not you Frieda. Do not blame yourself. You're a strong woman, chin up, everything will be fine.
