"the echo of your stare", great line to end this poem Frieda.. I would say back away from that"cup of darkness", but probably too late for that huh.. I don't think there are miracles for these shadows, just our own resilience and the help of friends who would shout Breathe Frieda, Breathe.. one of those wonderful poems you write that tears at our hearts... ~~redzone

Love can be so dangerous. Or seemingly so. Adventure is love and vice-versa. I find adventure in this poem interestingly enough, insomuch as the love portrayed, from what I can see, enraptured the individual to a different level; whether it be high or low. This work does a good job in showing there is no stasis in love. Excellent write my friend...

Thanks so much for this glowing review joshua, much appreciated.
All I can say is if those eyes belonged to you sweet poet, those echo's would be the most beautiful music to my ears. Always blown away by your words Frieda. This one will stay with me as I journey through the night.
P.S. you are welcome to stare at me anytime you like.

Walking, slowly, street lights flutter on shadowed wings, touching my wrist in anticipation of sidewalk silhouettes and the park bench with that always contagious cup...waiting...steam hypnotizing, rising, epitomizing this on a cold morning before the sun startles the ravens...and still Leonard sings.....................................

Wow, you need to write that one Jack.....................!
Intensely dark and heavy, Frieda. I can feel the desolation in this one. Is there any emotion you cannot evoke with your poetry?

Heart wrenching emotion in this one. Why do we allow ourselves to drink from "the cup of darkness" offered up by far too many people? We should refuse it no matter how thirsty we are, but alas, it seems we never learn. Where is that miracle when you plead with the heavens above for it? Sometimes you have to make your own miracles, my friend. Intensely written wonderful work. Lydi**

I enjoyed the poem. I like the description create vision of darkness and no light. I like the use of vision and sound to give life to your words. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
