A Poem by Frieda P
"

For the poetically insane ;-)

"
My soul is screaming,
           my heart aching
my pen tries to unfurl it all
inky spots leak from my veins
writing everything down then     chuck it
       psychobabble fast approaching           h y p e r drive
flip it over maybe it'll make sense
                    wrenching words from the brain
a poet's only as good as their last write
            tomorrow's not looking aces
                         sentiments unload           then
 perish into thin air
              rolling my eyes
                      and starting to swear
     ambiguity on the rise
      rewiring required
   perhaps a fifth or more....
                venting full throttle
bent on getting that last word in
                  metaphorically speaking,

a poet's day is never won

I enjoy this poem. Especially the last line, "...a poet's day is never won". How true. How ever so true. I'm currently going through a horrid period of writer's block. My muse (if ever I had one) is taking a vacation in Key Largo I'm thinking...anyway I find this work encouraging and cathartic in reading it. Thank you for this submission, I've been spoke to.

You have penned a very manic approach to poetry. This is a place I know. I have been there. Yet poetry, like many artistic creations can be born from quiet and calm. I have seen your poetry bubble up from hidden springs of untapped purity. I have seen them fall like stardust on the pages when memories fondly visit your un thirsty lips...
Ah, but these times do bring a rushing wind. We rise in a tornado of inspiration pretending we can fly until the gravity overtakes our flight and we must drag the broken legs behind a torso impaled with dripping quills.

I love how you move me Frieda. You "wild thang" you. ;)

Sounds good to me.
I kinda like the idea of a fifth. A fireplace, maybe a big screen with a movie and slow oblivion.

Now that sounds perfecto!
Can relate to this. How can poetry be so releasing and give us a sense of freedom when we can write, yet make us feel stupid, frustrated and insane when we cant.
If we are as good as our last poem, then you are "write" at the top ;)

Who says words come easy, particularly to describe complex emotions that are regurgitated many times. As always you capture the essence of the feelings. In this of distress, anxiety and frustration.
