A Poem by Frieda P
"

For the poetically insane ;-)

"
My soul is screaming,
           my heart aching
my pen tries to unfurl it all
inky spots leak from my veins
writing everything down then     chuck it
       psychobabble fast approaching           h y p e r drive
flip it over maybe it'll make sense
                    wrenching words from the brain
a poet's only as good as their last write
            tomorrow's not looking aces
                         sentiments unload           then
 perish into thin air
              rolling my eyes
                      and starting to swear
     ambiguity on the rise
      rewiring required
   perhaps a fifth or more....
                venting full throttle
bent on getting that last word in
                  metaphorically speaking,

a poet's day is never won

I enjoy this poem. Especially the last line, "...a poet's day is never won". How true. How ever so true. I'm currently going through a horrid period of writer's block. My muse (if ever I had one) is taking a vacation in Key Largo I'm thinking...anyway I find this work encouraging and cathartic in reading it. Thank you for this submission, I've been spoke to.

It's true we're only as good as our last write which can be highly frustrating. Good onr Frieda

Thank you Baby.
my theory to this and what i have lived with all my poetic days is this...we are only as good as our last write and every write could be the last...it is a precarious feeling.

well done, my friend.

My sentiments exactly jacob, always afraid that those words won't come again, thanks muchly.
finally an all seeing captcha.. ok Frieda if those "imaginary friends have stopped talking, I can volunteer to talk and in driving you even more insane, will enable you to have great source material.. an endless supply, and I am sure others at WC will also assist.. I am sure thopugh that if you dig a bit further into your psychobabble, you will find rich material... or at least discover that the couch you are laying on needs to be replaced... enjoyed reading your frustration Frieda, but I am still waiting for you to have a "bad poem".. ~~red(tappinghisfootimpatiently)zone ;o)

Wow, this was really fun and energetic. It definitely made me think of the times I've been hunched over my ipad, hammering way at it, mumbling to myself.

I like the way you play with the meter by stretching out some of the spaces between the words, it gave it a good beat in my head.

Favourite line "psychobabble fast approaching Hyperdrive" this line explains most of the sentiment of the poem for me.

Well written and well read Madam.

Thanks Samuel, jazz'd you enjoyed.
wrenching words from the brain,
only as good as our last write,
a poets day is never won,
nor should it ever be,
that be the day we have lost.

My poor apartment
Filled with rejected ideas
Which my three little ones
Are chasing everywhere
A free space exist
To move.

Never mind
My writing book
Will cease to exist
No more.

Thank you, for this humourous approach to writer's block.

Ha, housework is thankless, at least you get something out of poetry, thanks Anne!
A glimpse of poetic insanity, the worst part being that dreaded block - seems that is no problem for you, though, Frieda!

a poet's only as good as their last write...

If this is true, I'm in big trouble...

Oh silly goose, so not true, you. Thanks, jazz'd you enjoyed Rita!
You are absolutely right, Frieda. If you stop posting for a few days, it seems people forget who you on not just on Writer’s Café, but on all poetry sites. It is not easy to stay in the good graces of the readers. There are times I feel as though the smattering of words traipsing through my brain are just the blathering of a mental midget. Digging for metaphors and similes or counting syllables just doesn’t work when a smattering of semi-comotose phrases are all the brain has to offer. On days like that, you need to say phuck it all....put your feet up and don’t worry about it. Don’t write for others. Write for you....the others will either read you or not. The only person you need to please is YOU! I can (obviously) identify with this one. I liked it. Lydi** (oh, and the captcha was perfectamundo! LOL)
