Dragon's Fiery Hell

You are my fire breathing dragon nightmare

of a long ago, faraway place & time,

yet, you still exist in my every day dreams

haunting each wakeful hour on the edge

tormenting peaceful sleep's starry slumber

I catch you sneaking into my thoughts

your foul breath putting pressure on my temples

I've tried to slay you persistently

frenzied

 fear freezes me mid-flight

you continue to set fire to the reign

storybook endings don't finish in this realm 

Need to close this chapter for sanity's sake

rewrite the history that took place

allow, "Happily ever after"

to fade into the charred remains

of this memory bound succubus

I know something of dragon memories. Your metaphor is more than apt. I have found that the girl who was stolen-from needs to be consoled and healed and it can only be you who does it.

Oh, yes, it is very difficult to close old chapters when the memories hide on dog-eared pages and jump out yelling "BOO!" ...always at the least opportune moments. It is almost like a subsection of post traumatic stress. I think writing helps....to a degree. "frenzied fear freezes" great alliteration in this line. Your emotions are well expressed. Frieda, this hell you describe rips at my heart. If only there were a prescription that could be filled to erase these thoughts, cleanse these nightmares and return the smile to your beautiful face permanently, I would be running to administer the first dose. In sadnes, pain, love or laughter, still you amaze me.

I catch you sneaking into my thoughts, ahh!!! this one Frieda, makes me think of that moment you get bad thoughts that cause a lot of fear and then there is nothing to be afraid of and this kinds of thoughts are hard to get rid of, perhaps you should slay them permanently and close that chapter. Well done

The fire consumes you even as your blood freezes. I know this place, I know it very well. And I can tell you this hell is exhausting. You've captured it, they always say write what you know-it's a powerful poem.
