Rock On~

Rock On~

A Poem by Frieda P
"

~a few of the old favorites, just the tip of the iceberg

"
Cohen sang Amen as he danc'd us to the end of love
Joplin dragged a ball and chain into summertime
Elvis's hound dogs made us gyrate our hips
Led Zeppelin lead us to heaven's stairway,
whilst the Eagles soared over hotels in California,
took the midnight train to Georgia with Gladys and her pips
John Cougar needed a lover & Fleetwood Mac was off the chain
Don McClean served us american pie as we dream't on with Aerosmith
Queen rocked us when we were living for the city with Stevie
Pink Floyd put another brick in the wall
as Blondie shatter'd her heart of glass
James Brown told us to get up our sex machine
while dancing in the streets with Martha's Vandella's
the Kinks were stuck on Lola, as the Bee Gee's stayed alive
the Temptations said it was just their imagination
The Stones could never get any satisfaction,
Beatles reminded us yesterday can't buy you love
Cream lead us to a white room with the sunshine of your love
as we found Peace and instant karma with Lennon
The Grateful Dead kept us truckin'
to psycho killers of Talking Head
even though Bill said there ain't no sunshine
and the beat goes on with Sonny and Cher
Gloria never can say goodbye and neither can we

Indeed, rock on my friend. You have touched on the greats of classic rock here...some of which are still with us. Of course, all of them are still rockin' my stereo when I am home alone and I can crank it up. Nothing like cleaning the house with Carole King and the Beatles serenading me. You mentioned so many of the lines from songs I will never forget. Wonderful!!!!!!

Grazie mille Kee, glad you enjoyed my old rock memories.
Love this, but then, you knew i would from a previous post! Think I was born at the wrong time, most of the modern stuff can't touch me, whereas the bands/groups could actually play their guitars or whatever, the lyrics read like poetry, and the singers sang in this or that style but inevitablly with spirit and soul. Your take on all that is absolutely brilliant, love it, love. You have the ability to close eyes, pick a theme and write superbly. This really is an all.time great..

Cheers to the Stones and Aerosmith references! Really cool how you incorporated all the rock legends into this poem, and also the originality. Never read a poem like this before, very upbeat and made people smile. Rock on, girl.
