Oh, yes, when a love leaves us, the poetry leaves our lives. There is nothing lyrical about how we feel and we do not want to think in iambic pentameter or acrostics. After a while, it all comes back, but is it ever really the same? I don't think so. What a gorgeous song you chose to accompany your words. Great stuff. Lydi**

My mother passed in October, 2009; and while we had no relationship whatsoever, the finality of her death made me feel this way. I literally didn't write for three years. It actually surprises me to be honest. I have found myself most afflicted by the death of those who have hurt me in the most profound of ways. In the darkness, I drown in the river of lost hopes, dreams, and wishes, the should-have-beens and the never-will-bes. Only by drowning can I cross the river and clamber onto the banks of the other side basking in the warmth of some sunlight references of remembrance.
There is life even in the dying. Sometimes, it just takes time to rise.

ah, i don't even want to think about it. Its pops into my thought once and while, what would happen, if my words, stopped 'raising' themselves up, from the depths...
Well, then the poet just writes about that then!!!! As you have wonderful done. Hope eternal. My poetry can never be taken away. Its impossible. But.... I can abandon it! And what a true betrayal that would be.
I love the poem. And these are my thoughts. Thanks:)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts here Terry & your review , muchly appreciated. :-)
This is great, Frieda. I have only one suggestion. Drop the first line. Without the first line the rest builds, with a certain kind of suspense, toward the finale; the final line. It's very lyrical. I suggest you do another stanza or two and a coda. Then you would have a full-fledged song. Nice job! :)

Thanks my friend. Oh, and I had to look up coda...who knew it was Italiano...

Your hands would jump to cover your ears by natural reflex. But, if you sight-sing, I'd be happy to try and set it to a melody line (in my spare time - hah!). ;-)

You're too kind Scott, you humble me with your words, thanks sweet friend.
Elton John is amazing, he's my hero, ha! This is an absolutely amazing piece Frieda. Again, you have blown me amazing with your poetry. You write with such elegance. Well done.
Gorgeous and breathtaking as always. I found this poem to be intriguing not only its language but for the theme you're trying to convey. What Glen Yumang said was quite interesting, because I, too, felt that this poem deals with the loss of nature's song, the loss of love, and the loss of artistic or poetical inspiration, all which meld together harmoniously. Beautifully done!
