Oh, yes, when a love leaves us, the poetry leaves our lives. There is nothing lyrical about how we feel and we do not want to think in iambic pentameter or acrostics. After a while, it all comes back, but is it ever really the same? I don't think so. What a gorgeous song you chose to accompany your words. Great stuff. Lydi**

Throughout history when a country is overthrown by a despot very often as part of the purge of the Intelligentsia poets are also killed. Poets have died many times around the world including the Russian Revolution, the Nazis and the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. In fact it can be traced back 1000 years. Poets write but they can do it in a way that has double meanings and use metaphors that depict dissension. Just as the music has not died there will not be silence as long as poets possess their pens and voices. A very thought provoking piece, but poetry is never silenced for long.

Apple pie, seriously, isn't that like burning the flag in America? ha

You're right, you're getting stung up first Lol...
A long, long time ago
I can still remember how that "poem"
Used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while
And in the streets, the children screamed
The lovers cried and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
The day, poetry, died
It would be a scary world, wouldn't it? If there was no more poetry... I don't think I'd care to live there, in a world without life like the one you described. From the poem you wrote, I imagine the world you described to be grey, lifeless, and monotone without pain and joy, which is much worse than none at all.
Nothing is permanent here on earth. Everything changes. People change. We cannot hold everything in our hand forever. When someone is already tired, he would stop.
Nice music, so apt for your piece. I can relate to this. So emotional, Frieda. I'm carried away. LOL
Thanks for the share.
You've released some great emotions there, I really enjoyed reading this. It has a lot of feeling at the way you wrote this piece is really just beautiful.
Well done, friend.
May your wonderful poetry never die or pass into oblivion but stay in our hearts and minds. This was so sad and one that sank darkly into our souls. Finality is a bitter pill to swallow...Another great write...:).............

You are welcome, muchly...:)......................
Amazing description brought to life the emotion of sadness alive in the poem. Goodbyes leave us weak and wishing we had better endings. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
