...at the end of the day

...at the end of the day

A Poem by Frieda P

i've lived through a life of stolen kisses
baby blankets, hits and misses
cried a million tears in retrospect
soup du jour and soup for one
apple peels and bruised egos
all encompassing lust and love
& tiny tots bouncing on my knee
lived within passion, pity and grace
fall out from past grievances and haste
endured & defied vast undefined confines
treading in my own footprints,
yet, the world goes round & round
no matter where i've been or what i've seen
shut the door on one chapter and another begins
pretty posies and hurricane's wrath
ups and downs of this insane merry-go-round
still in the corner of my eye always exist
a glimmer of sanity that walks the dog
takes out the trash and sips regal tea
clouds illusions of my mind,
changes in the valleys and high seas
lofty inspirations awakening the dead
'work it or leave it alone'
over the rainbow in my head
spinning to the tune of the beat goes on
high on life, then giddy to a frown
i've made myself dizzy no doubt
at the end of the day
when the world is at bay
i wonder still,  would i want it any other way

Very true words above my Poet friend. Life is what it is and we must accept some things. I like the good journey in thoughts in the poem. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

This one hits home for me like none other. The line about walking the dog in the middle of it all - brilliant brilliant - my goodness, I would love to go for coffee with you.

Coffee is right up my alley, I guess a lot of people can relate to the mundane task of dog walking, .. read more

Exactly..................... ;-)
We are who we are and yes indeed Freida, through life's pleasant and sometimes unpleasant journey, we take it on the chin or wherever else and become wiser for the experience!

An enthusing poem, filled with worldly wisdom and tender emotion, creatively pieced together with imaginative contemplation !

Take it on the chin and a few other places at times! Thanks Tom, always appreciate your thoughts!
Sweet Frieda, it is all what we make of it. I love how this poem opens and closes in rhyme. The opening starts a melodic rhythm and the ending brings it all together. Would we want it any other way? Tough question...but I do know if I had the knowledge I have now...then...I would have changed one thing. I would have brought gout beautiful poetry into my life a long, long time ago. Amazing my friend.

A reflective piece for the new year. I like how you equated sanity to normal, every day things like taking out the trash and sipping tea. Great Poem Frieda. I really like this one.

I don't really drink tea but it sounded good, lol, thanks Baby.
You blown me away with this featured piece Ms Frieda... The accompaniment music is perfect for your piece. You've expressed in poetic way the mundane life of a mother, homemaker, a poet and writer. perhaps a soccer mom. You have summed it up all here ...the rigorous daily routine with babies and screaming children and laundries, school and practice and after the end of the day you reflect if its all worth the stress and reassuringly yes when your precious one gave you that hug and sweetest kiss and saw it all in their glowing eyes that your the best mom they have ever known ....

You wonder with a smile in your face ... would you want it any other way ?
