...at the end of the day

...at the end of the day

A Poem by Frieda P

i've lived through a life of stolen kisses
baby blankets, hits and misses
cried a million tears in retrospect
soup du jour and soup for one
apple peels and bruised egos
all encompassing lust and love
& tiny tots bouncing on my knee
lived within passion, pity and grace
fall out from past grievances and haste
endured & defied vast undefined confines
treading in my own footprints,
yet, the world goes round & round
no matter where i've been or what i've seen
shut the door on one chapter and another begins
pretty posies and hurricane's wrath
ups and downs of this insane merry-go-round
still in the corner of my eye always exist
a glimmer of sanity that walks the dog
takes out the trash and sips regal tea
clouds illusions of my mind,
changes in the valleys and high seas
lofty inspirations awakening the dead
'work it or leave it alone'
over the rainbow in my head
spinning to the tune of the beat goes on
high on life, then giddy to a frown
i've made myself dizzy no doubt
at the end of the day
when the world is at bay
i wonder still,  would i want it any other way

Very true words above my Poet friend. Life is what it is and we must accept some things. I like the good journey in thoughts in the poem. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I had to reread it, yes it is good. Enjoy your day.
High on life, then giddy to a frown...wow, that's a cool line. Even without the musical accompaniment, I'd say that line reminds me of someone we both know ;P Your work is incredible Mrs.R, and I'd say that right now you're in the midst of writing your best work yet. I'm absolutely tongue-tied by the power of your most recent words. Astounding poetry :)

You have such an acute way of looking at the world, can take it apart, show what's there in all it nakedness, or adorn it with pictures that make the viewer.reader see things one should never believe. The mind, heart and spirit creates a space then bleeds into life .. some more mundane or beautiful than others, some kinder, gentler than others.. whilst other vessels should never really write or speak for fear of - at worst, disturbing life's status quo! You, dear Friend, create words to live in everything you write. Thank you for being Frieda.

This is brilliant. what a great write. I just love the flow, the story, the hope and wishes for tomorrow.
Would we change what we have lived? For what? Every life experience we live is for a reason. We may not understand it at times, but it is ours and ours alone to claim.

Happy New Year my friend,

Trace

Thanks muchly Trace & Happy New Year to you too my friend.
Deliciously introspective...one we can all identify with. At the end of the day, routine is not so bad and we actually thrive on it, don't we? You've been through so much in your life and that is why you are such a talented poet! Lydi**

Awh thanks Lydikey, means a lot coming from you.
Maturity reverberates between every line of poetry written here, most notably the phases taken and organized concisely to portray your trek through life and all its sorrows, joys, and pains. Overall, by poem's end you've generally accepted that life is life, and that without a certain event you wouldn't be who you are today, hence the whole "would i want it any other way?" attitude. Well done.

Thanks so much Latifa.
I enjoyed the barrage of images that came at me, in an almost muddled sense but still coherent and understanding. I felt the pacing was spot on and i could read easily without any stumbles.
Thanks for sharing.
