Strange, for me, it's the holiday's blues, for the post-holiday are my reawakening, from my seasonal depression. And yes, a chance to spoil my little ones (3 cats), with special treats with the money not spent. Or to help those, in greater need than I. And thank you, for this humourous poem.
green eat your greens
Make them number odd
a 1 or 3 maybe 5 or 7
Salt pork or hog jowl will do
throw that tree in the lake so little fish can hide
Money is not wealth
But you words are smooth on these sore ears.
I made a Turkey Dinner and gave it all away plate by plate and didn't spend a dime other then the meals we gave away and gas delivering it.
I have no debt, no worries, And lots of happy love filled smiles to remember.

Though we wish Merry Christmas to those that do. It's actually the one day a year everyone celebrates what we do all year.
Our new (plastic) Christmas tree has brightened up our living room considerably, so my hubby and I have decided to leave it up for a little while. Why take it down just because the day is past? Maybe keeping it up a bit longer will keep our smiles pasted on for another week or two - we can always hope!
Hope your New Year is a good one, Frieda. You deserve a world of smiles - keep writing those wonderful poems of yours and you will receive our kudos for a long, long time!

Loved the attitude in this one....a sort of, "okay, let's get on with it". Yes, many spend too much and party too much during the season and it won't really be over for them till the bills are paid and the pounds are lost! I am not a holiday season lover so for me, this one hits home. Lydi**

I still hold onto the belief that nearly all annual holidays have been manipulated for profits rather than actual belief and religion, and that even churches benefit financially from traditions such as Easter and Christmas, most especially Christmas. You've expressed yourself well, I like this thought (considering the misanthrope I normally am).

I concur, but you a misanthrope, nevah.......thanks for the visit and have a Happy New Year Tai.
dear Frieda... as long as there is love
and the spirit of giving of ourselves...
there will be the true Spirit of Christmas and
Hannakuh. This season can be lovely with
candles of Peace... and the Menorah. It is
our choice. Love and a blessed New Year.
truly... Pat

Thanks Pat, yes, that's the spirit. Happy New Year to you too.
Funny how we all feel used at this time of year by retailers yet we let them away with it. Thankfully with vouchers we do it less and less. Maybe we should give tokenisation gifts at Christmas and spread our love and generosity throughout the year?
If you want to know me, read my poetry, it's all in there. I am a mother of three sons (my finest moments) a sister, a survivor and a little bit crazy. I lost my beloved sister to suicide, so you'll.. more..
