Wafting Wildflower Musings

Wafting Wildflower Musings

A Poem by Frieda P

You whispered so gently when you tucked violets behind my ear
as we writhe on a bed of windswept  poppy petals,      the earth moved
the sun shone on your face whilst the moon dipped in our sighs,

that was the last time I felt your warmth aside me
yet in the stirring chill of unfurled dark November mornings,
I can still smell the wafting scent of wildflowers in my hair

This is so heart wrenching, stunning and just beautiful. There is so much emotion to it.

"as we writhe on a bed of windswept poppy petals, the earth moved
the sun shone on your face whilst the moon dipped in our sighs,"

-- wow Frieda, you write some amazing lines that just blow my mind.... This is what I call perfection.

Thanks Chris, much appreciated. :-)
I can see why this is among the top poems on the Cafe at the moment. Amazingly romantic and full of splendid imagery, this poem transports the reader to a place of longing, which is nevertheless potently filled by the scent of wildflowers. Brilliant write!

Vivid imagery gives way to our own dreams as we read, and you've painted a beautiful picture of a reminiscing thought over a vibrant, lingering moment shared between lovers.

A plaintive poem, indeed. However, its sadness is negated by the beauty of your words. Some fine imagery here. Wonderful work.

The field of life, sometimes flowers and sometimes a wasteland, both have sad and eloquent beauty in this excellent poem. 100/100

Thanks for you kind words jacob.
Well done. I love the alliteration and the balance between the last warmth and the stiring chill. Well crafted indeed Frieda.

Thanks Steve, nice to see you again, much appreciate your visit.
A lovely and melancholy piece Frieda, I feel as if I am lying in this field of flowers, only it is the wind, scent-born memories of a lost past, tucking flowers behind my ear...
