~Few Fairy Tales Ago...

~Few Fairy Tales Ago...

A Poem by Frieda P

I should caution you dear sir
my spaces are sealed vault tight
too much heartache all for naught
lay me down on a bed of roses ~
don't expect me to die for you

rush my senses with intensity
my body will respond in kind
don't expect the same in return,
from my emotions nor my mind~
both expired a few fairy tales ago

Yes, the acres of debris left by insidious fairy tales fracturing our lives and futures. Poor Walt -- I don't think he meant to turn several generations of little girls into breathless Snow Whites waiting for Prince Charming -- but perhaps it was the naivete of the times we grew up in: the ubiquitous TV filling our heads with visions of Ozzie and Harriet type couples, Ward and Betty Cleaver, Dobie Gillis suffering for his beloved blond cheerleader from afar. Oh well, better to have our eyes open walking through this meadow; you can spot the fairy crap before you step in it.

Oh me too, he's a talented genius, thanks Pryde.
Someday I think I will do a study on the writers of these fairy tales, what their lives were like, how they handle whatever stress followed them, how, even in the face of not everything going exactly right, they still managed to write these happy endings. I can only assume these tales are misleading and I suppose should be banned, so that we are not lulled into believing that happiness can happen. Or is it possible that it is hard to understand the fairy tale ending if you haven't got to that end of that book yet...even Cinderella had to face to adversity and trying times before the happy ending. Perhaps the next chapter will bring this to fruition.

Very sad my sweet friend, but very well done and ever inspiring...for I know the happy ending is out there and I know that these things can come true.

this one tugged on my squishy pollyanna heart. - the physical body may respond but it doesn't mean the heart is engaged - and that's the saddest death I suppose. Only so many times we can be burned before we can't scrape off the char to feel anything. This one got me.

It only takes one heartbreak to make you realize fairytales don't exist.

Yes quite well.
A heartbreakingly beautiful poem.
All the fairy tales that fell away with our adolescent years. So sad to be all grown up in a world that sucks the pulp from innocence and leaves the husk to rot. Would that I could write one last and lasting fairy tale for you, dear poet.

Some men's expectations are high and vice versa but when they are hit with the truth they feel like the other side has lied or cheated them but they were the ones who misunderstood the situation from the beginning. Like a traveler to a foreign country who have heard but not seen the wonderous things about that country . If they are up to their expectation all is well and if not they will gripe and complain about it ...Bravo...

Yes, i know.... ;-)
As we grow older our dashed hopes and dreams cause our expectations to degrade to such an extent that all that matters is the intensity of a drink, a band, and a one night stand. All those golden childhood fairy tales turn to clay, fade away.
