~Few Fairy Tales Ago...

~Few Fairy Tales Ago...

A Poem by Frieda P

I should caution you dear sir
my spaces are sealed vault tight
too much heartache all for naught
lay me down on a bed of roses ~
don't expect me to die for you

rush my senses with intensity
my body will respond in kind
don't expect the same in return,
from my emotions nor my mind~
both expired a few fairy tales ago

Yes, the acres of debris left by insidious fairy tales fracturing our lives and futures. Poor Walt -- I don't think he meant to turn several generations of little girls into breathless Snow Whites waiting for Prince Charming -- but perhaps it was the naivete of the times we grew up in: the ubiquitous TV filling our heads with visions of Ozzie and Harriet type couples, Ward and Betty Cleaver, Dobie Gillis suffering for his beloved blond cheerleader from afar. Oh well, better to have our eyes open walking through this meadow; you can spot the fairy crap before you step in it.

Haha you're too funny lady....a fairy crap detector sounds like a good idea though.

I still believe in fairy tales...I still believe in love, and in happiness.
But, as a grown woman, I know it takes work. I know that, in the perfect marriage, the people are lovers part of the time. Part of the time, they are enemies. It's a great relationship if they are friends most of the time. I know that love is not about going to bed with a man...it is about getting up with him in the morning, and facing all that life throws at them...together.
Whoa...guess I'm a bit too deep this morning, huh??

This a contrast to the other poems, and for me, even better, as I like the ironical, sad quality of this.

Ahh very clever. Yes the more we experience, the more we understand those fairy tales are true(but not the happy ending kind)

Am I interpreting this correctly she's willing to have sex but refuses to feel any emotional attachments? Why, maybe this why nothing ever works out. She willing to give away her virtue for free.

Fairy tales fool us into believing that ever after is always a happy endeavor... ad when the truth sinks in; this piece has the beauty of the roses, and the sting of the thorns...
