~Few Fairy Tales Ago...

~Few Fairy Tales Ago...

A Poem by Frieda P

I should caution you dear sir
my spaces are sealed vault tight
too much heartache all for naught
lay me down on a bed of roses ~
don't expect me to die for you

rush my senses with intensity
my body will respond in kind
don't expect the same in return,
from my emotions nor my mind~
both expired a few fairy tales ago

Yes, the acres of debris left by insidious fairy tales fracturing our lives and futures. Poor Walt -- I don't think he meant to turn several generations of little girls into breathless Snow Whites waiting for Prince Charming -- but perhaps it was the naivete of the times we grew up in: the ubiquitous TV filling our heads with visions of Ozzie and Harriet type couples, Ward and Betty Cleaver, Dobie Gillis suffering for his beloved blond cheerleader from afar. Oh well, better to have our eyes open walking through this meadow; you can spot the fairy crap before you step in it.

Haha you're too funny lady....a fairy crap detector sounds like a good idea though.

The fairy tail of love, that consistent hope that "maybe, just maybe if I try hard enough, I'll get what I want!" How enticing to draw ideas from that general theme; I enjoyed this.

It's best to let go after the love & affection for that special someone is no longer apart of your heart's desire. Great work Frieda. An interesting ending fairy tale & a riveting read.

Maybe that's easier to do in fairy tales, they always slay the dragon at the end, thanks B.
Oh how I know...
We all have left parts of us behind...
You know Frieda. I think you have enough passion and beauty in your little toe to put most of us to shame! Keep writing the next fairy tale and keep your heart unvaulted enough to dance the next song even if you know you will have blisters later on...
You packed a big punch in a few lines.

Oh Scott, you truly humble me with your gracious words, thanks so much my dear friend. x
She's cranky. Maybe she should try a Posturepedic mattress? Or better yet...just say I have a headache? I think she has had one too many prince charming's. ;)

Favorited.

Make that a twin bed then. lol
Nicely done Freida. Indeed. After two or three of those dashed "happily ever afters" the fairy tales expire and are no more.

Regards.

Thanks for the visit and review toritto, much appreciated.
"a few fairy tales ago" what a melancholy line this is, Frieda. Pain is part of living, unfortunately. No matter how much we try to shut off feelings, that is not easy and for a compassionate soul (which I am convinced you have from reading your words) it is nearly impossible! Poignant write. Well written. lydi**

awwwww....you are a sweetie!
In our attempt to protect ourselves from experiencing pain, we surround ourselves with thick walls of indifference. it would only take someone worthy to crumble that wall... lol... i am a believer of realistic ending =)
