~Stormy Weather

~Stormy Weather

A Poem by Frieda P

caught in the eye of stormy destruction
somwehere 'tween here and there
momma said 'don't hang with that boy'
storm chasers called it,
moral turptitude category 3,
uprooted with bombastic force
thrown like a ragdoll,    landed in
the debris of indifference
told to vacate,    instead stuck it out
life rafts were at the ready

I prefer the slow death of drowning
  slipped off the pier of
cognizant
    swallowed deeply my intuition
took a swan dive off intellect
landed in a den of iniquity
sinking in muck of broken promises
            they buried me at sea,
               along side common sense

I think Fema will rescue you along with the national guard. I love the analogy between love and the weather or in this case a Tornado of F3 . I thought you were going to go all out with F5 which is utter destruction...Lol
A splendid poem and very creative...:)

I feel the words of your Stormy Weather. I feel the tug of your choice made. I feel the rusty railing and I taste the briny spray. You are no straw-doll, Frieda. There is strength beneath your skin.

I'm humbled Misery, thanks so much.
The old adage: "Sink or swim" comes to mind here. you have pulled together wonderful metaphors here with the weather and a relationship very well. and your presentation is terrific. Trace

Thanks Trace, jazzed you enjoyed my storm clouds.
It's that age old question that keeps asking us, "what is this thing called love"?

Your verses mock little funnel shapes...very powerful! Love this one!

Ha and no one ever has a good answer either! Thanks Kelly.....
Why is always the toughest question to answer, especially if we are asking this question of our heart. Common sense is thrown out to sea when the heart is involved, but that does not mean that all decisions end up a head above water situation. Ever once in a while one will come along and throw a life preserver to you filled with truth and honest affection, regardless of how long you have been floating in this sea of doubt. We have two choices when this happens, grab it for all it's worth or watch it float by on the rip tide and wonder from then on if it was the right decision or not. Life is filled with risks and choices, and often the risk is worth the choice...only time holds the answer to the question why.

Frieda, your poetry always strikes a chord, it reaches deep inside of us and shows us where your heart truly waits. Amazing my friend, as always, a gift to all of us who read this.

Coming from you this is quite humbling Coyote, thanks so much.
Oh how I do know where this one is coming from:

I prefer the slow death of drowning
slipped off the pier of
cognizant
swallowed deeply my intuition
took a swan dive off intellect
landed in a den of iniquity
sinking in a muck of broken promises
they buried me at sea,
along side common sense

And yet we'll still try to swim to shore... It's who we are, poor us.
