Shadowed Flight

Shadowed Flight

A Poem by Frieda P
"

I cry blood tears in your memory...

"
I cry blood tears in your memory
smoke & mirrors couldn't cover up your pain
I live within the shadow of your spirit
with hopes of enlightened butterfly wings
that freedom was worth the flight
In these darkly hours I pray for light
a sign in vain that it was not all for naught
I press my head up against the windowpane
to catch a glimpse of a flutterby
and all I can feel is the agonizing reign,
took you from this unsightly existence
to plunge into the abyss of forever after

I can't very well just leave a blank review, so I suppose I'll simply have to find a way to express in words the speechlessness I feel. I don't want to add or take away from anything there. The lines come to a close, and I sit for a few moments, the noise around me suddenly much quieter. And then I read it again. And I am silent again. It's like a cycle of contemplation, this poem. Most of all, it is immensely heartfelt and soulful....

( ps---my heart did a fist-pump when i read the word flutterby. that's what they do, after all! )

What can I say...on a night when I'm, well, just not happy, this is something that tears my heart out, not that your past pieces haven't done the same because they have...I can just feel the jumble of conflicting emotions here, and again I find myself wondering how you keep it together...devastatingly beautiful, well done dear friend...xo

Good friends like you make it a bit easier Steve, thanks always for your kind support. xo
Very heart-wrenching. The pain to those who are left never ends. I have a cousin mourning a beautiful son who had more promise than any other dozen boys. It is baffling and so tragic.

Awwwwww, Frieda - this one made me cry. Your tributes to your sister are always so heartfelt and touching, and this is no exception. Like I always tell you; Lee is always looking down on you, she is in your heart and is so proud of the strong, amazing woman you've become. You keep Lee's memory alive with your tributes.

"I live within the shadow of your spirit
with hopes of enlightened butterfly wings
that freedom was worth the flight
In these darkly hours I pray for light" -- this is just amazing, Frieda - I thought these lines had so much power.

A heart breaking write... xo

A fine tribute to your sister, who, as I understand from your bio, took her own life.
It is very difficult to review a poem with such an emotional background.
All I can say is...very well put together, with a Dylanesque use of language, the flutterby ( an in-joke, I bet ), with a strong visual element. You do your sister proud, and without being too spirtual, I`m sure she knows you have written this...

Yes, regrettably so Leslie, thanks for your kind thoughts..'Dylanesque' that's quite a compliment.
Powerful, heart wrenching and so beautiful. The emotions that ooze from this are Frieda are most heartfel.
Wonderful, thoughtful writing.

Frieda, I pray for light in your dark days, too. This is so painful, so beautiful...
