Shadowed Flight

Shadowed Flight

A Poem by Frieda P
"

I cry blood tears in your memory...

"
I cry blood tears in your memory
smoke & mirrors couldn't cover up your pain
I live within the shadow of your spirit
with hopes of enlightened butterfly wings
that freedom was worth the flight
In these darkly hours I pray for light
a sign in vain that it was not all for naught
I press my head up against the windowpane
to catch a glimpse of a flutterby
and all I can feel is the agonizing reign,
took you from this unsightly existence
to plunge into the abyss of forever after

I can't very well just leave a blank review, so I suppose I'll simply have to find a way to express in words the speechlessness I feel. I don't want to add or take away from anything there. The lines come to a close, and I sit for a few moments, the noise around me suddenly much quieter. And then I read it again. And I am silent again. It's like a cycle of contemplation, this poem. Most of all, it is immensely heartfelt and soulful....

( ps---my heart did a fist-pump when i read the word flutterby. that's what they do, after all! )

Like a severed arm, once a strong part of you and now, gone....except for the phantom pain. Hugs Frieda, this one bleeds such sadness and I can attest. For those who can only imagine, these lines will express.

so sad. - that freedom was worth the flight. I can't imagine. I can only read and cry....

Some creative double-entendre word usage here, which further adds to the pain and heartfelt emotion the writer (Frieda) understandably feels when reflecting over her sad bereavement !

An emotional tribute Frieda, your sister must have been a beautiful person and someday we all shall meet up again in a better place but until then, keep living and enjoying down here until that time arrives is the message, though only natural to think of those gone before !

I know Rob, good to see you hon x
This reminds of a song by Lana Del Ray "Summertime Sadness" [Blood tears and enclosed in those darkly hours] I can definitely relate to this. Very deep and thought provoking ~

You are welcome :)
As I read this, I think of my deceased grandmother. She was the strongest woman I have ever met. She fought all of her life for her family, regardless of the fact that there were a lot of people constantly trying to shoot her down. She died from a series of brain strokes, but she was bedridden for 10 months before she passed away. I remember the only thought I could process at her funeral was "I just hope she's finally happy and at peace now". Very wonderful and emotional poem, Frieda.

Sorry for your loss and dredging up sad memories...thanks LSD, muchly appreciated.
I envisioned a roller coaster of emotions, first beginning quite dark then fluttering high, only to descend once more and have you awaiting another high, which just wouldn't come...

Thanks Tai, always love your insight....
you write these with such love and passion and pain...and we as readers feel all of it...and i am reminded of those close to me whom i lost over the years..

especially my friend, Paula...who was only 27...died in a fire...tragic...gone too soon...the best are...

some? we wonder..why do they live to be a 100 ...
