The Space Between the Rain

The Space Between the Rain

A Poem by Frieda P

The space between us, speaks loudly
            crushing out
                    the center of our world
   our corrupt lies retract reparations,
          in contempt of love
I run from you as I run towards you,
    words confuse the deceptive
                                    games we play
less pain in the gray facade
  sad rain falls in torrents
     we fall between the tears
            yet the fires still scorches
is there a wrong & right
                    ... Or just what's left

You make me think...
Can we dodge the consequences of our actions? Can we walk into a storm and not be drenched?
Yes, there is space between the raindrops... But we cannot live protected in this space.
Still, we seem to find this magical place as we give our hearts to follow the path of love.

I like this one because it has an air of the personal, but at the same time can be universal. A thought provoking piece with a great metaphor of something burning even among the rain and tears that we would hope would douse the flames. Is there ever a 'Wrong or Right?" indeed.

formidable word play in this one Frieda. Especially those last couple of lines. Well done.

The title made me think of NYC when it rains when people selling cheap umbrellas appear from nowhere,
I miss NYC. I've not been there since I was a kid. I should take Lexus on our honeymoon

First of all I love the title. You capture that push and pull of relationships that gives us whiplash. The last line is filled with resignation and wisdom. But we can only search for the space between the rain.

Wow thanks Antonio, muchly appreciated.
Seems like a world fractured and tortured by two people attracted and repulsed by each other. Powerful write.

That's exactly how it feels Mark, thanks for your thoughts here...
Wrongs or rights....we all fall over this from time to time and sometimes more often than we should. I've always believed that we first need to experience our wrongs to be right....how else do we learn.

True Troy, you'd think there'd be an easier way, thanks so much.
How can I possibly say anything about this lovely write that Jack hasn't already said. So much truth in his words, and yours. When love is felt, nothing else matters, not even the empty spaces in between. Right or wrong, we will stand in the rain. Alone or with the one we love. Well done, my friend, definitely a new favorite because it resonates so deeply.

Always a pleasure, Frieda.
The end of a relationship is full of tattered memories like an old umbrella with holes in. No protection - just remnants of what used to be.
Poignant someone reviewed - I echo that.
These poems must hurt.
Well written Frieda (HUG)
