~to the Moon & Back

~to the Moon & Back

A Poem by Frieda P

In my heart of discontent
where remembrances lie
dandelion & butterfly raindrops
land upon my face
streaming in memories
fragile recollections of a better place
wafting through the air
into the atmosphere
on a wing and a prayer
looking for a sign
are you here with me still
within the magic of a flutterby
I sigh a dandelion's breath
dancing spirals grace a zephyr
gently drifting to the clouds
made a wish upon a star,
                   they make it that far
for our essence to meet
halfway between
 the moon & back

Wow, I felt as though I was lying in the tall grass beside this person. I was drawn in and did not want to leave. Thank you for that moment.

What I enjoy here is the way Frieda uses a central theme of wild flowers as a running theme ; that
makes this very complete ; fine idea well put together.

Thanks so much Leslie....
for the essence of us to meet halfway to the moon and back. Butterflies, moonbeams, zephyrs. The pull of memory - a heartfelt poignant piece

Thanks Anand...sending messages out into the ether...
I've read this a few times and am still trying to formulate my thoughts and articulate how it has moved me...the ending has not ceased to take my breath away every time I arrive at it, followed by the note you left at the end...I think the signs you look for are right there in the poetry you write, particularly what you've written for her...it's really hard to explain but I seriously think she is pushing your pen in these reflective pieces...it's a different voice for you...if I try to explain it any further I'll just wind up sounding shallow, but to sum it up, I see signs in your writing even though I met you too late - sadly - to have the opportunity to meet her...in spite of that, you write of Lee in a way that makes me feel like I did know her at least a little bit...the way you present her little tendencies and signatures with such vividness...I don't know, it sounds like a cliche the way I explain it but I see signs even if you don't, and she is never far away...I can say that confidently based on how I know you and the ways of your writing...xo

Your images are soft and entrancing, Frieda, and they have landed safely in my heart. "butterfly raindrops" is one I will never forget. You write your feelings and when a poet does that, you know she knows her craft well. This poem is a winner!
