Dry Clean Soul

Dry Clean Soul

A Poem by Frieda P

I tried to cover up my soul
as it stood naked before you
dripped dried, darkly spun
stripped of vestment's protection
you saw through the outer layers
built up over years of excess
dry clean bills &  starchy residue
stripped of lace and adornings
memories tucked in pocket folds
it bled through frayed button holes
spat out of iron's steam venting
as it seeped into all the wrinkles

I need not don a new wardrobe
no more hiding in dark shadowed closets
of old oddly layered ill fitting winter garb
acceptance finely wove a silken spirit

We long for acceptance...someone who will see beneath our scars and the mask we wear to protect ourselves. I found that in you and I hope you know that I see the beautiful person you are. You are perfect in every way...inside and out, my dearest friend and confidant. xo

Wow, thanks again, that says a lot to me.....
Forgiveness and redemption adorned in light makes ones soul a wonderful and beautiful site.
The journey there a struggle of fear and might can turn life into such a delight.... "You just caused that to spill out of me."

And I like your clever review Skittles! ;-)
Drats woman..... when someone still loves you even though you have many flaws that is all that matters. You feel like you are you again, there are less to worry bout now he like you. Very nice.

Thanks for reading Lucy....
Someone told me it's your flaws and imperfections that make you beautiful. I believe it in a way. I think it's our flaws that make us who we are, none of us are perfect. We might wanna be but we never will be. We might be perfect to someone so to speak but he'd love your imperfections and if he doesn't tell him where to go, ha!

I always like metaphor and symbolism. You're a master at both. Liked this very much. Personally, I never liked wash and wear. I wore wet shirts for years.

I like the analogy between the way your beloved looks at you and clothes in general along with their fabrics. Sometimes he sees you naked without vestments to protect you and other times with just outer layers , worn out attires other times with loose buttons and so forth. It describes your soul and its layers of many realities...Splendid as always ...:)

You are welcome muchly...:)
WONDERFUL! When someone accepts you, warts and all, you suddenly feel beautiful. No need to hide a wrinkle or an extra pound or two when you are with the right person. There is such freedom in that, isn't there? I liked the effect of the word "acceptance" in a different colored font. Great metaphor throughout. Lydi**
