Reflective Views

Reflective Views

A Poem by Frieda P

~I watched you

from distant shorelines of my mind

as the waves came crashing in

Butterfly ripplings on twinkling seas,
felt the safe harbor within memories

The horizon met with the sun
always dipping away into darkness
till a lighthouse guides the way

Brilliance of reflective views
sailed adrift to a new dawning~

With the thought of butterfly ripplings comes my favorite quote: ``Love is like a butterfly. If you chase after it, it will fly away. But if you are patient, and wait long enough, it will land in your hands.``
To imagine gazing at an ocean fluttering by and by like a butterfly intrigues me, and I can't exactly envision the scene perfectly due to the many feelings induced by the thought. To fall in love with the sea, and feel the overwhelming urge to leap in despite the knowledge the particular ripple you'd like to feel would be far out of reach by the time you land in, leaving you to drown by your own actions. Only the ripple is a metaphor for a person and you know that the person will be long gone soon.
I'm not sure if you've implied that with the poem, but you've certainly outdone yourself and caressed your talents.

this has a lot of layers, like the elements of the oceanic experience
you re-create it quite well; kudos on that

Thanks for the visit & review, muchly appreciated...
this to me speaks of a lost loved one...where the horizon meets the sun...someone who shone, and now is off on the horizon somewhere...living with the sunsets...

beautifully drawn picture in words.

Thanks for your insightful review jacob....
Butterfly ripplings on twinkling seas,
felt the safe harbor within memories...

These lines stood out - just lovely... (of course I would choose the rhymers...) :)

The lighthouse and the new dawn... there is always hope. Love this, Frieda.

Funny Rita, I didn't even realized it rhymed until you pointed it out...ha, thanks :-)
Here's to a new shore and a new ship
filled with officer, gentlemen types
not a bunch of one-eyed pirates

I apologize but you poem brought the this to mind. Really, a very lovely and romantic piece. Again forgive me.

Ha whatever floats your boat Pryde...I have no objection to the officer, gentlemen type...thanks.
I relate to all of your pieces, but this might take the cake...this sounds just like my parents' back yard, and I have photos to prove it...it also reflects the way I think as I reflect on that scenery...this will have a prominent place in my library :)

Grazie mille cara, jazzed you liked it :-) xoxox
This is a very beautiful poem with wonderful lines: It inspired me to use one of your lines to write this gift poem for you which you may keep as your own since I used so many of your words to create it. It's in /0/0/0/0/ nine syllable meter with overlapping rhyme.

Reflections

From the distant shorelines of my mind
tall waves from my past come crashing in.
Memories of you leave me spellbind
thinking of you at this time again.

Reflective views stay intact even when the sun goes down and then rises up for they are etched in our recesses and crevices . Our eyes capture the world and its events and the mind processes them all while the spirit makes sense of its spiritual values...A splendid read and write...:)

An easy gliding and masterful short write Frieda. I do love these ones as the impact is so great in such few lines.
