~Long Pauses~

~Long Pauses~

A Poem by Frieda P

You haunt my dreams
in long pauses of nightfall

a single breath at the nape of my neck
the scent of magnolias in the air

a calm filled with shudders
gasp of a sigh uttered

scorched of long ago places
written in script

that aspire to dusty shelves
one sweet day to revisit

in visions of twilight,
amber cognac
& blossomed desire

you give such a deep look at your passion! It's almost like memories jumping into the air. ...landing as small kisses trailing down the senses.Long pauses to let us know we are still breathing.I almost want to close the curtains as I read this for it makes me feel naked. you have done your job well here Frieda! Superb!

These are whispers in your heart, pared down to the most essential, no obfuscations or arcane phrases to cloud the beautiful sentiments here. These pictures are sepia-tones and carefully preserved. Truly wonderful.

I do love your reviews minichinz, 'sepia tones' love that....thanks so much.....
this is a really fine poem, one of the best Frieda has written. Super couplet structure, sparse but full of imagery, this is exactly the style I like the most, reduced, powerful, evocative...very good.

Magnolia's seems to be a hit, thanks Tam.
A beautiful and hopeful poem.
"that aspire to dusty shelves
one sweet day to revisit "
I like the above line a lot. We can revisit the good days in memory. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Thanks so much Coyote, my favorite is 'dusty shelves' too, glad you enjoyed.
Something haunting about this, beautiful memories shelved, maybe to be retrieved one day.

This one does have a dreamy feel to it, like a daydream...may all our dreams be freed of those dusty shelves someday, preferably sooner than late ;P Well done Mrs.R :)
