What a pitiful picture you two have weaved. These two sections were my favorites, and seemed to me to invoke such sad visions.
"dust at the stem of the thorn
oh but a nightmare would be
silence in wastelands now born
crying as syllables flee
Staring at blank plastic walls
colored of teardrops un-cried
nothing, the sound as it calls
heavy, the depth of the sighs"
Nice collaboration guys.

well talking of the enchanted writing pen... i bet you got one or something of a kind...
great write and the questions posed are unimaginable,.. i mean think of a life with no poems or music?? how would we present our feelings and how would those who cant write or whatever drown their sorrows?? A rabbit hole with no air.. i mean that would be so horrible"
all in all a great intriguing poem so well done fellow writer...

A world without the arts is one not worth living. Robert Mondavi said, "Even more importantly, it's wine, food, and the arts. Incorporating those three enhances the quality of life." A superb piece, my friend. Bravo!
There would be no beauty in the world. We would live in darkness. This is thought provoking and I love that you used the quote by Friedrich Nietzsche. It is so fitting.

One of my favorite quotes Anne, thanks so much, so jazzed you enjoyed our musings.
This is a truly magical poem, Frieda! I cannot imagine a life without poetry, music, art.. To even consider such a life sounds incredibly dull, dying, dead.. You gave so many wonderful images of an un-versed life... I am so thankful we have all of those wonderful things in a versed life.

Yes, I didn't notice the collaboration until after I posted my comment.. Great job to you both!
there would be no Dylan or Cat Stevens or Simon and Garfunkel or Melanie to listen to while i didn't write my poetry...
that's what would not be for me...
and there would be no writerscafe...and i wouldn't be able to say.."nice collaboration" by two of my favorite WC poets.
and a butterfly just crawled up to my window...because it couldn't fly up.

What a lovely thought weaved together with one voice singing clearly the creative tune of you both. Music soothes the soul, poetry speaks through it and to it! This poem shines. Bravo, my friends! :)

Grazie mille Sirrah, I know that Jack will muchly appreciate emerald eyes stopping in ;-)
The poem is amazing. I agree with your words. Would be a empty world without music.
"A pen of empty ink a' pour
trumpets blare without a sound
pages crumbled, tossed the floor
cello strings upon the ground"
Thank you for the outstanding poem.

Thanks muchly Coyote, that's Jack's, I love it too...
Music, or so I believe, is as old as mankind itself. I'd almost be willing to say that Eve, herself, sang lullabyes to her children...how could it be otherwise? Before there were spoken words, there was music...nature herself makes music, if only we would stop and listen...
Beautifully done, guys.

Thanks Angel, jazzed you enjoyed our collaboration...
Great quote from Nietzsche in the center of your words. One of my favorites actually. Indeed, the world would be dark without the magic of poetry. The words that paint, dance, and sing us through the dark days. The imagery you employ in this poem is stunning, Frieda. A pleasure to read your words. Lydi**

If you want to know me, read my poetry, it's all in there. I am a mother of three sons (my finest moments) a sister, a survivor and a little bit crazy. I lost my beloved sister to suicide, so you'll.. more..
