~The Last Time I Danced

~The Last Time I Danced

A Poem by Frieda P

Last time I saw your face I danced in your essence
the tempo deliberate and hauntingly alluring
you provided the rhythm for my wanton heart
your Grandioso sent me over the moon,
            then crashing back to earth
I felt it'd be our last tango,
          yet, you expressed devotion
I fell into your staccato without missing a beat
till I realized you'd always be a cappella
with no reason or rhyme for your deceptive cadence
there'd be no encore, you were falsetto in disguise
Now, I dance alone on a dark moon with no harmony
no Maestro to entice an impromptu interlude
sad violin music the only melody that tunes my soul
still, a free spin above the kick of devils symphony

Frieda this is a beautiful poem. The words against the backdrop of music is perfection.

Grazie mille shallimar xo
your soul will never be diminished if yoiu remember the last time you danced in the most equivocal essence.
i love the passion and the music in the background that sticks with the importance of art and the art of the human body in motion.
Keep it up, love this

Ah well those memories by which we judge all others. there is a lesson in this. Perhaps happiness is like a good song. t plays the heart as we dance along

Perhaps, but music is so much easier! Thanks Tate....
With no reason or rhyme for your deceptive cadence-why do people do that?! I know exactly what you mean. Maybe they just don't believe that there really are people out there that understand and accept truth...I don't know. Well penned piece with appropriate piece of music!

I don't know either Barbara, I just write em....thanks!
Now, I dance alone on a dark moon with no harmony... A gorgeous line...

The dance goes on, whether we join in or not... Great poem, Frieda.

Reminds me of my dance-obsessed mother-in-law, who is in Canada this week for a Tango Festival - who knew there even was such a thing?

:) Actually, I say more power to her - she's dancing away at 78!

I'm sure that's what keeps her young!
I think what is most important is to keep on dancing. Great rhythm to this piece. Well-penned.

I concur Pryde, thanks.
"I fell into your staccato without missing a beat
till I realized you'd always be a cappella"
Opposites don't always attract, or maybe, do attract until their harmony and beat fall out of rhythm.
This is true poetry for I have no lovely words that would do your write justice.

Wow Carrie, I have no words for your lovely review.
Very creative - and I thoroughly enjoyed the musical metaphor. Funny how life's song lures us into some of the most beautiful music, then changes the tune...
