~Dark Side of the Moon

~Dark Side of the Moon

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Collaboration with Jack, needless to say, he's the light side.

"

A deeper shade of black devoured your soul
coloring my world in metallic shades of gray
dark angels took flight into the night
hanging by a thread for all to see
 moon hung its head in shame
twilight had failed its plight
spirits collided head first
music played only sad tunes
...the day sunlight ceased to exist

~~~~~~
Fireflies flicker
light slowly resumes
night becomes day’s color
tears evaporate in reflected heat
dawn’s sweet zephyrs on jeweled beams
caress indigo butterfly wings in silken softness
and I see, once more, you find me on this dark moon
whispering in feathered sonnets of melodic lyrics calming
illuminating my heart in showering sparks of the happy memories
Stunning collaboration, Frieda and Jack both!! Both of you have composed some incredible imagery for this piece (which I happen to be partial to in poetry).
Jack, I love your "dark side," so to speak, with its "deeper shade of black devoured your soul." And just as much, Frieda, I love your "light side," with its "fireflies flicker," and "tears evaporate in reflected heat," and "dawn's sweet zephyrs on jeweled beams." What an intense combination of positive/negative images, so romantic, loving, and adventurous!!! Ooh, I'm just gushing. :-P
I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan and a huge Zeppelin fan also. Hearing Wish You Were Here immediately caught my attention. It's a great song. As far as the writing goes, I enjoyed it. Your collaboration went well.
Thanks for your visit and review Nick, muchly appreciated, glad you enjoyed.
I see a relationship in which dwindling mental health would mean devastation for both parties, in the case of your poem it might've already happened, but the significant other returns to care for the other despite his condition... I liked it.
Isn't mental health always dwindling Tai, thanks so ....
another lovely collaboration! this is like the wheel of the world going round and coming back again. both the dark and the light hold their beauty just as both of you hold talent as writers in completely different ways. i love the form that you chose to use. fading to black and then coming back to life! loved this piece and of course the pink floyd song :)
What a wonderful collaboration. I see this as a representation of life, because everything in life has balance. There can be no yin without a yang, no earth without the sky, no happiness without sadness, no Sun without the Moon... And no light without darkness.
The descriptions and metaphors used worked very well together and I like the picture that they paint when combined. I also very much enjoyed the way the poem itself was formed. I believe, at least because of myself, that when readers see a poem that was not traditionally formed and aligned, they have even more wish to read it.
All in all, I truly loved this piece and as always, I am overjoyed to see one of your collaborations. You two work really well together. :) Great job!
