Drink A Toast in My Sake....

Drink A Toast in My Sake....

A Poem by Frieda P

Will you forget me if I go
if I should die before I wake
will you drink toasts in my sake
will my name remain upon your lips
Don't dig me a shallow grave
rather spread my spirit to soar
that I might still be free
to float upon the seas
and visit you in your dreams
Remember me fondly as music
stirs your soul to recall
all the smiles and laughter
we discovered being you and me
those memories always remain alive
Know when you feel the rain upon your face
and the wind hails at your back
whilst the posies dance on zephyrs
& the sun is shining above the clouds
those are reminders I'm  thinking of you

Oh my god, I think blue and I drank from the same bottle...I thought you meant the rice wine, too xD Anyway. Holy cats, dude...this is really something. You know you will never be forgotten, but that doesn't mean you should test the theory ;-) Hope things are going better for you (and yours) xoxo

Cheers to that :-)
For someone who seems so vibrant and alive, you sure do death well, Frieda.

This was penned as if it came from beyond the cold, cool confines of the tomb. Poignant & touching, a testament to lost love and bygone days.

Very lovely...

Thanks Cassie, you humble me...
This poem has a sad finality to it. A yearning for it not to be over and to remain in another's heart even though you know this is unlikely. The finality is an acceptance of the sadness the situation leaves you in.

Thank you John, there are some that will always remain in our hearts.....
Don't bury a memory...rather you should look for them in nature...and everything that is alive. Our energies are one...we don't expire...we just transpire...

Thanks so much Rose, thrilled you enjoyed this one. :-)
I almost can not breathe. Your poetry just does something to me. It tears at my heart and kneads my emotions until they plead for mercy. This poem is so filled with deep meaning and feelings and is crying for its questions to be answered. I can tell you this is one guy who will never forget you.

Don't dig me a shallow grave
rather spread my spirit to soar
that I might still be free
to float upon the seas
and visit you in your dreams

A friend of mine had an acronym for verses like this one...IWIHWT. It stands for, I wish I had written that. Frieda, the amazement continues, you are a never-ending source of beauty. I loved this poem.
