Drink A Toast in My Sake....

Drink A Toast in My Sake....

A Poem by Frieda P

Will you forget me if I go
if I should die before I wake
will you drink toasts in my sake
will my name remain upon your lips
Don't dig me a shallow grave
rather spread my spirit to soar
that I might still be free
to float upon the seas
and visit you in your dreams
Remember me fondly as music
stirs your soul to recall
all the smiles and laughter
we discovered being you and me
those memories always remain alive
Know when you feel the rain upon your face
and the wind hails at your back
whilst the posies dance on zephyrs
& the sun is shining above the clouds
those are reminders I'm  thinking of you

Oh my god, I think blue and I drank from the same bottle...I thought you meant the rice wine, too xD Anyway. Holy cats, dude...this is really something. You know you will never be forgotten, but that doesn't mean you should test the theory ;-) Hope things are going better for you (and yours) xoxo

I am very glad to read your lovely words.
Thanks for stopping by,creative heart.:)
You make Death seem less morose here, and more of a change rather than an end. Like - it happens, we both know it, but neither of us will forget the other...

whilst the posies dance on zephyrs - a beautiful, signature Frieda image!

I enjoy the sentiment here. I believe others may do what they will with the shell of my dead body, I will be soaring either way. It is my choice and my spirit will be free... As I know yours is.
This read almost as a pleading from a death bed. Truth be told, we are all sleeping as such. We have no promise this body will enjoy tomorrow, but we can know our spirits will be blooming in eternity.

Thanks for your visit & review Nikosana, muchly appreciated. :-)
One of the upsides of writing is that we are always remembered through our words and our dedication to them. I love the line of remembering fondly as music stirs the soul to recall. That is an awesome image because no matter whether we want to or not, sometimes music comes to mind and we start humming a tune, whether we want to or not! Haha! Very nice poem!

The echoes we leave behind resound, rippling to surround those we love and those who love us. This is really beautiful and it touches us where we all really live- in those simple magical moments. LOL when I first read the title I read it as sake-the Japanese rice wine.
