~Ashes, We All Fall

~Ashes, We All Fall

A Poem by Frieda P

Where is love laid to rest
when it takes that last breath
are there markers at a grave-site
or does it purely burn out
much like ashes of cremation
no bejeweled urn to possess
terminated last rites,
sacrificed primordial
spiritual strength for recovery

~~

 if you've faith enough
  to say 'AMEN'

Wish I knew where it goes. My biggest fear is that it never really once. Perhaps if there where markers at a grave site we could look back and say yes indeed it did happen. But love is fleeting and as elusive as our lives themselves. Perhaps all we get in the end is our own knowingness. Okay Amen!

"Markers at the grave site"... The burial place of love is within the lover's heart - and it is indeed marked, forever changed by the experience... Amen.

Thoughtful, deep write for a sunny morning, Frieda!

Thanks Rita, hope the sun is still shining on you my friend!
Amen!

Is our love truly ever laid to rest? Or, is it simply the shell; that husk that was once meat, bone & sinew, that we mourn?

I choose to believe true love never dies, even though the body is out of sight, and out of mind...

Nice, very thought provoking piece, Frieda.

how ill doth he deserve a lovers name

....this is a writing by a 17th century english poet- Thomas Carew and your writing instantly brought this to my mind
his heat in spite of absence or disdain
but doth at once like paper set on fire
burn and expire
sorry the poem ends with
my very ashes shall in their urn
like a hollowed lamp forever burn.....
beautiful words you have written truly...
thank you fine lady...for sparking my ashes of soul*)

and I will say Amen not because I like to bury love but because death of a sour love opens a door way for a more better fulfilling love. nicely done dear

Wise, very wise dear Cassie, thanks muchly...
It is there, still. In memories before whatever end came along. How bitter we would be if we couldn't find some beauty in relationships past?! Nicely done, Frieda. Angi~

Amen to that Angi, thanks so much....
If the love was true, honest and devoted, then I believe it has not died, it is merely waiting in another place till the timing is right. If the love was not true from the start, then it never really lived.

Frieda, so much flows in your words, as if we speak these ourselves through you. You bring meaning to our thoughts and quantify our emotions so purely and beautifully, we could possibly live by your poems alone.

Very nice my friend.
