'Speak to Me of Truth'

'Speak to Me of Truth'

A Poem by Frieda P

...and the Raven spoke to the butterfly
            "speak to me of truth"
the reply came humbly,
'who's truth do you want?'
The Raven looked a bit perplexed...
'there is only one truth that does not lie' he muttered.
Butterfly responded, 'perhaps it is as beauty, my clever friend;
'tis in the eye of the beholder'
Once again the flutterby spread her magnificent wings,
"there was a time I was held captive in a suffocating cocoon with no light, now watch me as I brilliantly take flight into the night'
As she fluttered off she left him with this thought to ponder,
'through your keen  Raven eyes, which is  the truth of truths
you wish to find in me?'

This is lovely, Frieda. You know I am just so relieved the raven didn't eat the butterfly. You have no idea. Perhaps I read too much dark poetry here. Even butterflies can display a certain strength

I love this conversation between the raven and the butterfly. The butterfly has a unique look on life having been first a caterpillar and then a butterfly. Something this poor raven will never understand.

I like the story and the ending in the amazing poem. I agree. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Also Happy Birthday my Poet Friend.

So true on that count, thanks again Barbara!
The little butterfly is wise in his ways...
But the raven also has something to say.
There must, after all, be a final 'truth' that is 'truth' for all...or else nothing is true for anyone.
What is 'truth' after all????
Something to think about.
Beautiful write, my friend!
