Sleep, If You Dare

Sleep, If You Dare

A Poem by Frieda P
"

nightmares or reality...?

"
Sleep, yes go to sleep
so you can visit that hell again
when the night arrests your breath
until it's nothing but a whimper
it comes again to rape your soul
leaves merely a reeling shell
madness in being buried alive
are they nightmare or memories
a blend of blood's spilling guts
twisting  entrails till they fail
bleeding the heart, sucking it flaccid
neurons flashing in neon putrid green,
deep repulsive murky shadows of inky ebony
pulsating to the beat of slicing knives momentum
they don't hide in the closet or under the bed
these are the true monsters in your head, as the un-dead
take a chance on some zzz's tonight
if you're really lucky, perhaps you will wake...

Interesting write. A dark side surfacing here. I love the versatility of your work. Nicely done my dear Frieda. Always a pleasure :)

That's a scary one. Night terror???

ewwww -- this is a brilliant description of a world class nightmare. This describes either a recurring nightmare or a recurring theme. I hate nightmares; I hate anything that disturbs my sleep. But this is the kind that wakes you up with no breath in your lungs and thunder in your ears. The words describe graphic images that deliver maximum shock to the reader. Dear Frieda, back off from this one and treat yourself to a spot of serenity and maybe a shot of tequila to take the edge off. If this is meant to disturb the reader, it certainly did.

Think you may need to sleep dear Freida?

It's been a long week and I am tired but I found this not to be so much Freida or Freddy but Frankenstein in its patchy stitched together quality. Boy you were tired on this one!

I love that artwork...funny enough I just chased one of those b*****d things on that poor baby's bed out of my kitchen door with a broom...it was about that size, too ;-)

I love the piece, too, natch...meanwhile, that's where vodka comes in. xoxo

I understand where you are writing this poem from Frieda.
It is sad when the very function to bring healing and vitalization has been transformed into a sort if living death...
The mind and body can only keep you from this state for so long.
Thankfully, it is a conditioned response and can be reconditioned with hard and intentional work.
"Nightmare on Elm Street" is not a fiction for many...
Frightful write in artistic flare.
